Re: What version of Python is Ren'py written in?

Who exactly is supporting and developing Pygame? From what their site says Pygame is compatible with 3.0 minus a few modules. This was an entry on the pygame.org faq: "Only the scrap, _movie, surfarray for Numeric, and threads modules have not been ported. The Pygame alternative, pgreloaded (Py...

What version of Python is Ren'py written in?

I finally have time to resume making games again, but I was wondering if Ren'py is compatible with Python 3.0 code. Can I create modules of 3.0 code or will they not play nice with Ren'Py?

Re: IT'S COLLEGE TIME

I am graduating from my Associates program at ITT Tech in May 2012. Then it is off to a four year school for my bachelors in Server Administration and Security at George Mason University. The fun part is that when I start George Mason I will have absolutely no time to do anything but eat, sleep, go ...

Real Life

Ugh, I just got back from a trip to the inspiration vacuum and boy am I tired. I feel really bad that I haven't updated my site in a month and I have done absolutely no work on my VN projects. Part of it is because I got distracted by my shiny, new Fallout: New Vegas game(been a fan of the series si...

Re: Does Many Endings Encourage or Discourage Players?

I believe that it is best to have one set point where your story ends and a variety of small charater based endings within the story. Ideally as the player explores the world and interacts with the characters then he/she will unlock resolutions of that characters arc. That is how most of the games I...

Re: Does anyone here code their own engines?

I don't code my own engine, but I do code useful functions to make Ren'Py more friendly to RPGs. I know that Jake is programming a combat engine for Ren'Py...

Re: WIP Circus Circus!!!

Urrgghhh...zombie writer needs brains and inspiration. I have been writing...nonstop...for a total of 48 hours...inspiration struck and now I have no more...I feel like the creative juices have been drained from my soul. Need to recharge my batteries. Anyways, I have spent the past couple of days wr...

Re: Reasons for Game Creation Failure (and how to overcome?)

[qoute] Wall of Shame 5. Unseen Another project that's probably better off dead: The narrator of the story is a man in his late thirties who stalks a sixteen-year-old girl. The tale is told entirely from the perspective of the stalker, making this a very unsettling game. I wrote two chapters and the...

Re: WIP Circus Circus!!!

We have done 3 similar sized games like this one and have worked on several computer applications too. Anything you can share? :-3 Haha no not really. They wouldn't make sense outside of my circle of friends. They were pretty cheesy and I am not comfortable releasing them. It is a bit too personal ...

Re: Reasons for Game Creation Failure (and how to overcome?)

Why do I get the feeling that I was an influence to this thread :P My suggestion is to always know when your story will end. The ending to the story is the most important part of the project. If you don't know where you are heading with a story, how will you know when you get there? If you don't hav...

Re: WIP Circus Circus!!!

I don't know your completion rate on projects of this size, but as for me, I've been making games for 17 years, and I still end up with this pitfall (less so lately, at least, but still @_@ ) You might consider writing the main parts and then adding extra scenes if time and energy allow. Then you'l...

Re: WIP Circus Circus!!!

I agree that it is an ambitious projects for someone that is new to actually producing games for the general public, but I am not new to programming games and neither is my partner. We have been programming video games since we were in high school. Most of them aren't releasable because they are cen...

Re: WIP Circus Circus!!!

F E E L T H E L O V E My genuine feedback : Right now, it looks like too complicated a game. Starting a project big is basically a nail in its own coffin. Small projects expand, how much bigger do you think this one will get? Just because you think of a feature, doesn't mean you should include it. ...

Re: WIP Circus Circus!!!

So this week I really buckled down and wrote like a boss! 29,000 words in total and there is much more to come! I started working on some of the endings. So far I have one super good ending that is really hard to get too. Well, not hard persay. You just have to put a lot of time into developing othe...

Re: Studying or Gaming?

@Friendbot - So... if you aced all of your tests but did none of your homework, what were your actual grades like? I usually did very well on tests (except for math tests) but still got F's because tests were such a small percentage of my total grade. I usualy looked forward to the final exam to sa...
