Re: Thoughts on visual novels moving to widescreen

As DaFool said, it mainly depends on the framework of a visual novel. Both 16:9 and 4:3 aspects have their own good and bad sides. As for me, I'm rather accustomed to 4:3 resolutions, than widescreen ones. Furthermore, 16:9 resolutions aren't normal and it sometimes feels awkward to watch a vn that ...

Re: BGM loop suggestion

Yup, usually, the workaround is to chop your file into multiple parts, one being the intro, then the looping parts which will loop endlessly. The other workaround would be to put two audio files, playing on different sound channels, with blank fillers in between. Actually, I remember playing few vi...

Re: Point-based Systems

Not really... It's all about variables. You can have as much of them as you want and each of them can control a specified statistic. Furthermore, you can have, like few stats working together to achieve ceratain goal and most of simulation games work like that. If you played RE:Alistair++ for exampl...

Re: Need artists for a Visual Novel

It might be hard for you to find such artists here; it would propably be much easier if your project was smaller and finished in terms of pre-production (to put it bluntly, finished in terms of overall design and writing), but you're just beggining. Also note, that most of communities are kind of se...

Re: Looking for Ren'Py "Tutor"

Lishy - not every creator has the abilities, or the time, or the talent to learn almost everything. It's impossible, so you shouldn't concern yourself with these. Instead of that, just go with everything you got and try to learn new things in meantime. While there are a few new features people have ...

Re: Looking for Ren'Py "Tutor"

Well, it wouldn't hurt our community to create a kind of basic walkthrough together, that would show how to use some of the coding and create a kind of new, official 'tech' demo - what Ren'Py is capable of doing now - all the basic stuff and fireworks including ATL along with proper examples, so peo...

Re: Question about music

Vocaloid is like any other kind of music software, being basically a voice/speech and sound synthesiser. It's not designed for music composition, but for creation of realistic vocals for your music, but it's scope of usefulness is much more wider. It isn't cheap, but it's a great choice for those wh...

Really neat surprise from creators! I love when they do such things. Honestly, more games and visual novels should have such bonus content :)

Re: How to make your own Backgrounds for VN's

As for the more advanced cg backgrounds, Mugenjohncel is propably the one who mastered this process to the best. He posted a couple of good tutorials some time ago. You can take a look at them, if you want. Here's the link: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=5547 Another more ...

Re: Endless Legend - Making Fun of an Old Script of Mine

Wow... I highly admire you for writing such a thing at such an young age. I wrote my first true story at the age of sixteen, but it was only like 2-3 pages long. If I'm right, this may give you roughly a 40k-60k words long visual novel, which would be great. As they say, nothing you do ever goes to ...

You're mostly welcome :)

For others that read this, be always sure to check if programs's distro/archives were downloaded properly. Downloading many files at once, especially on choppy internet connections may cause files to catch errors in the process, it happens.

Re: [EDIT] Okonomiyaki's Free/Cheap Work. [Artist4Writer?]

Although your art looks quite simplistic, it's already very nice - I woludn't doubt that your skills as an icon/item designer for an RPG or simulator games are formidable! Can't think the other way :) Hope you'll find someone to work with soon, cause this would be really a waste. Hm... Do you have a...
