Re: Why are eroge / hentai games less popular here?

I tend to like VNs with an erotic element, but I want to work for it, or have a loving or intimate scene be the culmination of a relationship. I tend to dislike the straight-up hentai games where you end up in a sex scene every ten minutes. Years ago I ended up getting "Do You Like Horny Bunnie...

Re: ANN Answerman 2011-04-1

snip Taleweaver said what I was trying to say. Basically, it disappoints me to see the potential in the genre not being used. Like Taleweaver said, there is the talent on these forums to surpass a lot of what comes out in the VN genre, in Japan or in the U.S. or anywhere else. I'm not suggesting we...

Re: ANN Answerman 2011-04-1

The problem with KNs is that there ARE those types of stories being done better and groups like mangagamer are at least trying to bring to good ones over here, not to mention that there are some decent inofficial translations of other games (the one for PM2 was pretty damn good for an amateur trans...

Re: ANN Answerman 2011-04-1

@kinougames Thanks. I'll check it out. Looks right up my alley. We need more games in the Princess Maker vein. That is a ridiculously small genre, even counting foreign releases and similar games by Jack and Hanako. @J. Datie Removing all those things wouldn't necessarily make a better product. I wa...

Re: ANN Answerman 2011-04-1

Long time lurker, seldom poster, but I thought I'd put forward my thoughts since I feel so strongly about the particular issues touched on in Answerman's article. I'm not a big fan of VNs or Kinetic Novels. The reason is pretty simple. If I wanted to read a story, I'd read an actual novel. If I want...

Re: Best pen? (and other questions)

I can second the previous suggestions that COPIC markers or micron pens are the best way to go if you prefer to use pens to ink your line-art. When I still inked my original art, I used micron pens, but didn't feel I was getting the line variation and flow I wanted on the inks. I like to use brushes...

Re: Copyright Regarding Product Placement?

This is the part where I get to point out that I'm Southern and NO ONE does that, EVER. :) (At least, in my personal experience, in the places in the South that I've lived.) I've heard of it happening but always only third-hand. "I hear that somewhere they..." Maybe it's the Deep South, o...

Noted. ;) The lesson here is to check for trademarks and copyrights on fake trademarks and copyrights you make up!

Re: Copyright Regarding Product Placement?

Trademarks, not copyrights. Seriously - you don't lose a copyright for not protecting it; you do seriously risk losing the ability to enforce a trademark. Specifically, the entire point of a trademark is to uniquely distinguish your brand - if you allow others to use it without acting as agents of ...

Re: Copyright Regarding Product Placement?

I'll make the disclaimer as well that I am not a copyright lawyer, so take everything I say with a grain of salt. As mentioned, there is such a thing as 'fair-use' of copyrights and trademarks. As an art student at a professional industry college, we actually discuss this topic quite a bit. In gener...
