Re: A conundrum of choice and theme

I've asked this question of myself too, and the best answer I've come up with is to write the theme so that it's impossible not to have a message in the game. For example, I could write a story that tells the player about how misogyny is bad and all that, and try to create a game based around that. ...

Re: What is your method to adding in more content?

Don't worry about all these other people telling you to cut, that can come later. If you need to add things, do it iteratively! Make a core concept and finish it. The finish part is very important. Then come up with an idea that can improve and enhance the core concept, and implement it. Check to se...

Re: Thera'Py: with Eliza Py [Therapist Sim][Experimental]

Oh man, I haven't played with Eliza in forever. This is a really neat little game, although it would be interesting if you worked to tie the sprite's body position with the things Eliza says instead of going for random.

Re: Interesting article on Algorithmic Game Creation

I've definitely wanted to bring randomization and procedural generation to the world of visual novels and IF-related things. Emergent stories shouldn't only appear within roguelikes.

Re: Visual Novels: Should We Abandon the Term? And How?

Maybe we shouldn't attach ourselves to novels so readily. How about Interactive Puppet Show or Animated Stage Play? (I'm only mostly joking.) I'm fine with VN as a catchall term, but there's more to most works that are created by people on this forum than just the novel part, and thinking about othe...

New artwork for August is up!

He's looking a bit glum right now because of some old memories, but that's neither here nor there, and he'll be back to being a cocky asshole pretty soon.

Just a question: What gets you most interested about this game?

Re: The Spirit Of Disaster (Competition 2012)

I've completed turning Anniversaries, Adversity, and Pepper into a separate game all its own. Grab it here. The game itself is unchanged from the AdComp submission, all I've done is adjusted the menu screen and the credits. Papillon, let me know if there's anything I should change.

Re: HTML5 engine that can handle interactive video?

People have already made interactive games that are FMV (or can be) using a bunch of different Youtube videos, and smart use of the annotation feature. Just pause the video when the player needs to make a choice, and include links to other videos in a few annotations. Each video becomes its own part...

Re: Not sure what I want to call this, but . . .

You can always PM me and ask for any advice, I'm always happy to talk about yuri things! For now, take your time and get an idea of what your game is about, beyond GxG. Since this is your first game, you should probably keep it simple, with maybe 15-20,000 words maximum, and no more than two dateabl...

Re: Lady Luck: A story of debt, tsunderes, and alcohol.

I love the character concept for Julie! It really fits in with the description you gave of her. Just wondering, is this a stat-raising game? Also, if it takes course in only one night, will it be easy or hard to obtain certain endings? Other than that, I'll look forward to when this VN will be rele...

Re: Not sure what I want to call this, but . . .

I guess a few questions you could ask yourself about the game: 1) What's the setting? What kind of world do the characters live in, and how does it affect who they are? 2) How many dateable girls will be available for the protagonist to have a chance to romance? 3) What's missing from the player cha...

Re: Not sure what I want to call this, but . . .

So you want to make a game that just has one person who happens to be a girl fall in love with another person that happens to be a girl? Or do you want the yuri relationship to be something that can only exist between two women, whatever that may be?

Lady Luck: A story of debt, tsunderes, and alcohol.

Lady Luck is a short visual novel currently being worked on by TwinTurtle Games. We have a few large projects that we're in the middle of, and we decided to release a short project in the meantime. LL should be a 30-45 minute playthrough, with four different endings to discover. The script is mostly...
