Philip, all you have to do to download and run the app on your Mac is download iTunes for your computer. There are PC and Mac versions. I don't think that you'll be able to do it without additional steps if at all - what you download through iTunes is a package that can be installed on an iPad. UPD...

I had bad experience with last year when I was developing for the iOS 6* version. At one point Apple didn't allow you to submit apps which allowed the older iOS version. I agree with adding Twitter - I'll just need to look into the available sdks a bit more :) I'll need to find a few days to make it work nicely I believe. As social media goes the next step is to do something like SoundCloud to not just enable you to post what you're doing and promote the work itself...
