Re: RockRobin - GxB (w/Demo)
So far the french is perfect. ;-) Thanks! That's a relief. :D I got some new characters to show off: http://www.kmick.com/imgs/brunoliz.png Bruno (left), Liz (right) Who are they? Are they important? Who knows! But they're pretty. ;) Shading might change, but meh. I had fun doing it. >_> PROPS TO L...

Re: RockRobin - GxB (w/Demo)
Was it that he had a character sprite? Not really, because Owen has also got one and I didn't expect him to become a band member, even though he might become one in the full release. Or was it simply that he's listed a band member in the opening post? I completely missed that post so that's not to ...

Re: RockRobin - GxB (w/Demo)
Rock Robin is an awesome demo. Or should I say, "BROKEN", because that's the name I chose for my Alternative Rock band. The UI is beautifull and unobtrusive. I liked the management part, and I loved the music, what a really good choice you made. The character sprites were pretty good, espe...

Re: Battle Engine - Alpha 1 release, downloads in first post
I'm just linking to this small software, because it's relevent to the issue of making spritesheets from different images =) Good thing is it creates a .txt file with the name of the original sprites and their position, so one can map them easily with Filmstrip.animation in Renpy. http://spritesheetp...

Re: 3d realtime characters for a VN/adventure?
3d characters could have appeal, but there are a few issues : - if you'd be going for Daz3d type meshes, your game would look instantly generic and amateurish. - The character models would have to be modeled specifically for your game, and if you want to have different clothing, then this adds more ...

Re: Battle Engine - Alpha 1 release, downloads in first post
I missed that edit, it's really great news !Jake wrote:(On an unrelated note, I think I've worked out how to get panning working in a generic and unobtrusive way, so I might be able to make an Alpha2 release sometime early next week, with any luck.)

Re: Battle Engine - Alpha 1 release, downloads in first post
It's certainly possible - but I'd prefer to leave it out of the core engine, on the grounds that it depends a lot on what size, orientation etc. your sprites are. It stops working so well even if some of your guys are different heights or hold their arms differently, so it's not really a generic al...

Re: Battle Engine - Alpha 1 release, downloads in first post
Actually, I did it a really bad way around lol ok =D What I was planning was to add extra functionality to the Scenery class, so that you could set a flag and it would draw itself once opaquely to the BG layer, and then once to the Fighters layer with transparency... so you wouldn't have to bake th...

Re: Battle Engine - Alpha 1 release, downloads in first post
I've got a couple thoughts that came up while I was playing with the alpha : - I had wondered how you managed to make the trees become transparent when a fighter was behind it, and back to opaque when none was. I then understood that you drew the tree both on the background and on the sprite that wa...

Re: Battle Engine - Alpha 1 release, downloads in first post
Actually, you should just be able to set up an EnemyFighter or MovingEnemyFighter and add it to the player's faction, and it'll work as a non-controllable NPC. There's nothing in the AI which makes it only work against player characters, it will target any fighter which isn't in the same faction as...

Just thought of something, I didn't see any friendly AI, are you planning on adding it for non controllable NPCs ?

Oh so that's a D pad ! =D
Then yep, I think D pad is even better than buttons.
Then yep, I think D pad is even better than buttons.
Ok cool =)Don't worry, I'm definitely not going to force a standard grid size, and since the Battlefield class knows how big the grid square is, it's unnecessary!

Re: Battle Engine - Alpha 1 release, downloads in first post
a set of buttons around the edge of the screen for scrolling, or a d-pad in the (say) top-right corner would be doable I don't know what a D Pad is, but I'm down with the buttons solution. Navigating with keyboard arrows is cool, but not as obvious as the buttons. Or maybe we could have both, the k...

Re: Battle Engine - Alpha 1 release, downloads in first post
I can totally imagine something like that =D
I like the chest idea, that could be another Scenery item or tile behaviour. =)
