Re: Why do you make Visual Novels?
This could get a little lengthy, so please be patient... I have always loved a good story. When I was little, I would always watch the latest Disney movie with my mom and my sister. My dad always loved things like super heroes and cartoons about them, and we would watch things like Batman cartoons, ...

Re: Low self-esteem in making a game. What do you do?
I often have the same problem. It is really terrible not knowing what to do. Or, even, what you sometimes. I think that the hardest part of doing something is getting up the motivation (or, dare I say it, courage?) What I have been told to do if something seems hard is to ask yourself why you ...

Story Game
Okay, the original post was a bit stupid. I am really trying to get the hang of this whole story telling thing, so please forgive me... Here is really what would be a story-telling game: A dog walks down the street and encounters a (insert noun here). Please fill in the blank, and then add an...

Re: Dreams
I just had a dream last night that was incredibly cool. My family was planning on going on a trip with all of our friends to France. We missed the cruise ship, and had to stay in an old inn outside of town. We all filed inside and were greeted by an older woman wearing green stripes and a purple ber...

Re: What do you think about romance-horror game?
Personally, I cannot stand games with an age restriction type rating. I do appreciate a synopsis that casually mentions what to expect, for example "may contain lots and lots of unrestricted violence" is not as good of a warning as a description saying "After <insert name here> kills ...

Re: um Someone who can draw people... mainly girls o u o
I love your artwork! Wow, that stuff is amazing! Wish I could draw like that... I love the whole "pretty boy" anime style for the guys. And the girls are so gorgeous! I would ask for something, but it would most likely just end up on my desktop as a wallpaper.

Re: Favorite Non-English Phrases
@Mink: You have got to be kidding me! I am going to have to say that at school. I won't get in trouble because no one will know what I am talking about. 8) @LastWhiteRabbit: That is so neat! I love oddball things like that. It would make great comic relief in a visual novel. My mom is now wondering...

Re: What to do if you're sick in hospital?
I feel your pain (sorry, pun not intended). The one time I was in the hospital I only stayed for one night and one day, and all night nurses come in and check on you. I know how boring it can be-television doesn't have anything interesting, reading is painful, and napping seems impossible. If...

Re: What is success for a VN?
Interesting topic! One could write an entire book on that subject  One thing that always makes me proud is finishing a project that I start. Some day, a few (or many) years down the road, I might stumble upon what I made and be embarrassed for a second at the spelling mistakes or grammar issue...

Re: [Kinetic] the song of stars - Lovecraftian horror piece
Looks very interesting. I noticed in the screenshots that you named the doctor Dr.Edgars. That seems like a perfect name for a doctor in the horror genre. Did you name him after Edgar Allen Poe? I'll download it now and tell you what I think. This looks great! :D EDIT: I just finished playing this g...

Re: How Does One Flesh Out a Story?
@LastWhiteRabbit Thank you so much! That was INCREDIBLY helpful. I cannot tell you how many times I have tried to write a story based on circumstances, and yet I always get stuck. I will definitely try to "interview" the old woman, or try to figure her out starting with the hook. Thank you...

Re: How Does One Flesh Out a Story?
Hey, thank you so much for all the great suggestions :D I am an aspiring indie game creator, and I love a game with a strong story. Unfortunately, I haven't had much practice in creative writing. I spend most of my writing time of essays for school. I was just wondering if any of you have a good me...

Thanks so much for all the help! Most of you mentioned starting off with a character's personality first, which is a good idea. Keep the suggestions coming!

How Does One Flesh Out a Story?
I have been working on a story for several months, but always just have a vague concept. Either that, or I will get caught up in minor details. For example, I might have an idea about a control-freak queen that controls everyone's thoughts, even about what her citizens eat. This could potentially b...
