Re: How do you advertise your VN?

-Swallow your pride and spam chan boards with news of the release of your game with absurd resolution screenshots and links. I've pondered this one before. Any ones you'd recommend? I forget all the abbreviations, but I believe there's one for "Games" and one for "Artwork". Thos...

Re: What is success for a VN?

I've calculated that in order to recoup the amount of money spent on buying things for BCM (the music, GUI design work, etc), we will need to sell about 25-30 copies. If we can sell at least that much, I'll be pretty happy. Anything above that will have me over the moon. (anything in the three-digi...

Re: ATL movement glitch

Just as an update, I seem to have discovered that the issue is time-related.

I changed the zoom time to 10 seconds, instead of 60 seconds, and it appears to zoom perfectly smoothly. If I up it to 20 seconds, I can see it starts to get a little worse. 30 seconds, worse still.

Re: You ever worry your work won't be taken seriously?

This topic seems very familiar, and then I remembered. http://forums.novelnews.net/showthread.php?t=35926 This is what the Gemot community thinks of OELVNs, and the people who make them ie YOU. This brings back memories, if you're a sensitive OELVN developer, you may want to stay clear as some of t...

Re: You ever worry your work won't be taken seriously?

I think part of the issue is that there's no clearly defined goal around here which people can strive towards. I used to run a forum dedicated to Tokyopop's Rising Stars of Manga series. I encouraged past winners to join, which they did. They in turn attracted others who aspired to get published in ...

Re: You ever worry your work won't be taken seriously?

We not only need to emulate the "professionals" of the VN world, we need to surpass them, because, as I mentioned in my last post, a lot of them have worse gameplay than VN games 20 years old. The very first 'VN' I played was True Love '95. It's technically a life sim, but here in the Wes...

Re: You ever worry your work won't be taken seriously?

iOS (in particular iPad, on iPhones the texts are really too small for my tastes) are indeed good medium, but for any kind of game, not just VN. The new Fire Kindle looks also is going to be a hit, I think it might even pass iOS sales (that's my personal opinion though). True. Although, I think VNs...

Re: You ever worry your work won't be taken seriously?

Can I see this blog review that has caused this question? Just curious I'd rather not single it out. But interestingly enough, it didn't catch my attention because the review was bashing the game. Quite the contrary. It was surprisingly even-handed. In fact, it was too even-handed. To the point whe...

You ever worry your work won't be taken seriously?

I don't mean to denigrate any of those who are just beginning on their journey of creation in the realm of VNs. But this concern really hit home mere moments ago after reading a blog review of an EVN. Are EVNs really just all lumped together and viewed as beginner fluff? Are people expecting EVNs to...

Tried DirectX, OpenGL and Software, and all three have equally jerky motion.

ATL movement glitch

Just spotted this recently.

We've been using a zoom function in ATL that worked great in 6.10.1—nice, smooth zooming motion. But, after switching to 6.13.1, it's now kinda all herky-jerky. No idea why.

Re: Stop SOPA - USA members, please read

Filibustering makes me frown. :( We should be represented without underhanded tricks. Heck, I'd just be thrilled if "we" were represented at all—as opposed to having our representatives monopolized by corporations or individuals who happen to have more money than God. :? Even those who oc...

Re: Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

I'm Australian, but I'm actually celebrating Thanks Giving this year on Saturday! My manager is American and she invited us over. I'm making apple pie, and I have been informed there will be turkey! Yay. WHA?! What kind of Aussie are you? Bringing an Apple pie...Unless 1980's pop songs have steered...
