Re: The Doomed Diner 2020 [Horror][Halloween]
Just noted one of my browsers didn't show the pictures (the one with the paranoid security settings). Probably because the images are on my own site (which isn't https certified). Here are the WIPs as attachments (shown somewhat smaller than the originally posted ones). Kids1-400.jpg Kids2-400.jpg K...

The Doomed Diner 2020 [Horror][Halloween]
Hello! So, The Doomed Diner (take 3) is a visual novel about a trio of girls who inherit a diner at Dadrice Cove. Bad stuff ensues as they take part in the local tradition of a Haunted Halloween Hike. http://www.fusebloware.com/Pics/DoomedDiner/Diner.jpg It offers 3 wildly different main routes that...

Re: Kirt. Updated Work
Hello, JaneRunsFast. Your work looks great but you wanted a critique and there's something I spotted in your sprites : whenever one of your sprites tilts its head forward, it tilts its head sideways by the same amount. It's as if you want to keep the eye line and the vertical axis of the face perpen...

Re: Historical VNS and disclaimers?
Sounds interesting! I wouldn't worry too much about disclaimers. Simply naming it "Historical Fiction" or "Historical Romance" should be disclaimer enough. A historical romance like "Casablanca" didn't come with additional disclaimers. I don't know when exactly you want...

Re: The deprecation of OpenGL from macOS
I think most developers won't notice much of it since they'll be using a cross-platform development tool (like Renpy). Of course, Apple does everything in its power to make it hard to cross develop for its own platform. That hasn't changed. But we still have HTML 5  Anyway, graphics functions s...

Re: Book on Ren'Py/Python
Personally I would be interested in a well organized "Cook Book". Not an introduction to Renpy, Python or visual novels in general, nor a learning book or a "How to make a FPS in Renpy" book but simply a cookbook which answers any "How do I .... in Renpy" question. Of c...

Re: How do you go about making a demo?
As for blocking certain paths : I think it's a good idea to still show the option that takes the player on that path but show it disabled. This way it piques (hopefully) the interest of the player, especially if the option is a highly interesting one. Perhaps it would also be a good thing to show th...

Re: Help w/ setting up commissions page?
I agree with Morinoir about sketches. If I see sketches on a commission page then I think " This person has hardly ever finished a drawing.". I'd also like to see evidence of technical ability (hands, hair, drapery, proper shading, etc.), different characters (male, female, child, old, you...

Re: How and how often do you back up projects
Well, I do the same stuff the others do here, putting stuff on external drive and on my site but I also have this really handy little USB memory stick on my key ring. This way I'm always carrying my projects with me.

Re: Game with only CG art and no character sprites?
Using only CGs sounds perfectly fine to me. The idea to make a single sprite and copy/paste a bunch of facial expressions on a blank face seems not only boring but even wrong to me as well. After all : an expression takes up the whole body, not just the eyes and mouth. On another note : I would look...

Re: Tenkeiteki Tokyo [parody]
Has it been 2 months already since my last post here? Still working on the intro. Finished the part of the logo flying through a shopping street while transforming into the Ameyoko sign (the line version of that is earlier in this thread). I'd show a gif but the thing is over 15 megs in size and I d...

Well, it's official now. I'll join the growing army of "not finished in March". Kudos to the ones who did finish in time. I hope to finish Cat & Cavy in April. No promises though, there'll be a lot of snooker in April

Re: What is your primary key on making a visual Novel?
Ah! A hook. Well, I never gave it much thought but when I look at my projects ("Tenkeiteki Tokyo", "The Doomed Diner", the current NaNo "Cat and Cavy") I notice something : I do a lot of research. The backgrounds of Tenkeiteki Tokyo are all based on existing places in T...

Re: What is your primary key on making a visual Novel?
My primary key is always an integer that is automatically increased when a new row is inserted (either by a trigger or simply a thing that the DBMS provides) and has a name that is the name of the table suffixed by "_PK". Some purists think this is a "Bad Thing" because it would ...
