Re: NaNoRenO is coming again! Who's excited?
Okay I decided to throw all caution to the wind and just try! Okay so maybe I won't have time to finish a game for NaNoReNo because of my other committments, but there's no harm in trying, right? :D Yeah, I can definitely attest that, even though I "only" completed a demo last year, I got...

Re: I need help creating a writing style
I'll take a stab at it... lines from your draft are in italics. "One year can be an awfully long time. Long enough for the whole world to turn upside down." This is an okay start, but not terribly original. Try to think of something interesting. Don’t be afraid to make it something that’s ...

Re: Play Akinator with your OCs
It's a fun game... but I wanted to mention when I visited the site last night, my Norton kept alerting me that it was blocking malvertisement redirects. (I guess this is a common attack that can happen on sites that host 3rd party ads.) Be cautious if you go there.

Re: Recruitment!
I'll be able to do some editing/proofreading for 2-4 NaNoRenO projects. I'm a native English speaker open to all genres. When desired I'm happy to give in-depth guidance on characterization, voice, atmosphere, and expression of themes and conflict. Or I can just proofread. ^_^

Re: Shio Fuu's art thread
Very nice -- I really dig the colors, and you've got your own style going.
I've seen plenty of traditional drawings here; they're good practice for other kinds of art. (Besides, it's not like VNs couldn't be done with traditional art.)

Re: NaNoRenO is coming again! Who's excited?
Yeah, I plan to do it again, even though I'm still working on last year's. But I learned from last time... lots of choices = lots of writing (more than I've been motivated to complete so far), and two characters would have been more appropriate than six for my first time making sprites. This year, I...

Re: Improving in a short amount of time?
Definitely practice a lot, and get feedback to make sure you're progressing effectively. I agree with looking on Deviantart for tutorials. I also think it's important to step back sometimes; there will probably be times when you're trying over and over to get something right, but it's not happening....

Re: What can I do to make my art more professional?
OTL Now accepting critiques! Be as honestly brutal as you can! Haha, well, I can try. ;) The Halloween one seems the best so far. I think you're going in a good direction in many different ways, but to make your art professional-looking, all of those things need some improvement, too. Proportions a...

Re: Lee's Art Thread. Requests Closed. Critique appreciated.
I like the cover design. I like the way it's composed and the way the black/white/grayscale are used. Elements contrast with each other in a pleasing way. Overall, I'd say it's pretty cool looking. I do have some comments, though. One is that I can't tell what's going on with the guy's head. I'm not...

Re: Character art critique
Yes, the non-glossy non-cel-shaded style is 100% acceptable... but I think you'll have a hard time marketing/selling the game with the sprites as they are. People can't really judge the quality of the writing at a glance, so they're going to make a judgment about the game based on what they can see ...

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
Among other things, I think it would be interesting to do a VN with Nendoroid photography. I'd photograph characters and backgrounds separately so sprites could come and go. I played around with poses and green-screen photos with Iron Man last week. The background here is one of NYC I got from Wikip...

Re: Rue Spritework
I'm pretty sure this is only possible if her spine works in two completely separate parts. The pose in itself is possible; the body is quite flexible. It's not comfortable, but it doesn't seem like the type of pose she'd be in every day... more like, for a few seconds while transforming (or whateve...
