Re: Narration, Dialogue, and GUI Design

You can also try doing descriptions in italics in ADV, that's what I did and I didn't heard complaints yet.

Re: Is my character art good enough? (please critique)

just wanted to say I like the trees in the Earth-chan picture Actually, the trees in that image are just default "brush" asset from Clip Studio Paint :( I'll have to start drawing nature on my own one day... In the latest picture, the shading on the thighs is really nice and the hair look...

Re: Could this kind of project work as a VN?

If you just want to tell a story and don't need special mechanics, go for VN. Image, audio, choices, endings - checked. If that's all you need. I think that kind of story can definitely be told as Visual Novel. Don't throw VNs into "simple anime for adults" category. Art style is just a ma...

Re: How many endings are enough?

I agree that many endings are totally not important. At first I didn't make reserach about that and ended up overcomplicating stuff. My game has 9 different story endings and it turned out, it was pointless work. I hoped to get players interested and increase replayability value, but... Looking at S...

Re: Long dialog trees

When I was working on my first game, I used free software Twine to make an layout of the branching. http://twinery.org/ And when comes to RenPy implementation, you can divide it in multiple files. And of course, make good use of labels (name it, so you can easily know later what was where)! If each ...

Re: Maximum points? PLS help me.

Your r_max is just another variable and does not do anything on it's own. You can, however do something like this, right after adding points: $r_luck += 1 #Adds points to the variable if r_luck > r_max: # if luck points are greater than max value you want to have... $r_luck = r_max # set the luck to...

Re: Planning vs improvising

Personally I like to have just any kind of general outline, and then improvise the scenes as I go but still check if I'm following the general outline and not trailing too far off it. The outline might have simple story description, main branch points and characters list. It's quite easy to create m...

Re: What got you into making visual novels?

With me it was rather by accident. I've always wanted to create computer games and had no interest in anime/manga and all that stuff. But project after project, team after team, nothing were finished and I gave up on creating games (instead I went on solo assets creation, but it's another story). So...

Re: A Kinetic VN

If we take a look at Recruitment & Services subforum here + what I already know from experience, I think it might look like this: - 1 Character (there are various prices depending on size, complex design, quality etc. I also assume you'd like more than one pose, let's say 4 and price is $60 per ...

Re: New Year's resolutions and your VN development

I'd like to finish at least one more project by the end of the year.

I need to draw characters better and finally start creating backgrounds. Maybe learn some Live2D.

I can also confirm their work is worth the price!
One of the artists helped me with the background art for my game Jake's Love Story and did excellent job!
Quick responses, made exactly what I asked for, I really recommend them!

Re: Could this game be made in Ren'py?

I believe it's totally doable, you should take a look at few things I think: Screen language - https://www.renpy.org/doc/html/screens.html You might also want to check imagemaps (I think this could be what you might want) - https://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?t=22410 I think the problem ...
