Re: Which do you like better Kinec or Nonlinear visual novel

This is me for all games in general: I prefer non-linear stuff. That's why I like Simulation games (like The Sims, dating Sims, Startopia, etc) and "sandbox"-y games (think iNFAMOUS or Grand Theft Auto or Elder Scrolls games), or games with multiple choices (Mass Effect, Dragon Age) or exp...

Re: Nervous about making first game....

Yeah, the stuff I want to do are always too complicated, I guess. That's why I'm also looking at tutorials of the various coding languages. I'm trying to decide between various programming languages and see if I can learn to better understand the coding. It's a little tricky trying to figure out wha...

Re: Article mentioning single-player narrative games vs othe

Probably though I would use 1st person view, since I don't like much the walking character on screen. You can do first-person view in AGS ala Myst and Nancy Drew, according to the AGS wiki: http://americangirlscouts.org/agswiki/Graphics,_Characters,_Text_%26_Rooms#First-person_perspective_games_.28...

Re: Nervous about making first game....

Thank you, sake-bento. :) I guess I was nervous because I've heard some people mention that they expect Ren'py-made games to be as good as Japanese Visual Novels at this point. I was thinking, "Oh, my gosh, I'm only a beginner! How can others expect me to be up to that professional level so qui...

Re: Dropped Projects

Wright1000, I don't think clannadman means to be sarcastic. He/she's just giving some other reasons why people tend not to finish their projects, that's all. And, I think everyone's right: It's a mix of passion, dedication, patience hard work, not procrastinating, working towards deadlines, staying ...

Re: Frozen Essence: V.2 uploaded

Just finished this game...and I LOVED it! I got the Water-Light ending in which you find out about Zareth. I was scared for a moment, though, when I found out he worked for the Order. I was, like, "No, not you too, oracle!", lol. Anyway, I thought this ending was so good and emot...

I like your art, too, aestate! :) I will take everyone's advice and just have fun doing it.

Now off to learn more Ren'py stuff and to start pre-planning! :D

Thanks for the encouragement, everybody.

Thank you for that, LightsGreatTree and delta-ion. :D

Good luck to the both of you on your projects. :)

I have fun writing and even doing the coding (gasp!), so I will take your advice and have fun with it.

(Goodness, I'm addicted to Ren'py games, now, lol! I downloaded several, hee. :) )

Re: Fantasia Requiem of The Abyss (GXB)

I would love to play the Fantasia game series...if I can find how to make them work for me! =(

According to the log, I am not decompressing it right and not keeping the original directory or something like that.

I'm using the Full download link (from Megaupload, I think).

Re: Nervous about making first game....

Thank you, Taleweaver and Efreet. This reassures me a lot. :) Yup, I can see that VN's are a lot of work, but most games--and many things in the world--are, I guess, lol. I will definitely plan everything out, because I'm that kind of person. (I don't make any actions unless I plan it out ahea...

Re: Nervous about making first game....

Thank you for the encouragement, Camille! :) I really needed that. It's good to hear that, because I am really, really, really loving the various Visual Novels/Sim games from this Ren'py site, and they inspire me to do my own. :D It's the drawing--not the coding!--that's making me pause (because I a...

Re: 5 Rules for Writing Interesting Choices

Thank you for the good articles, OokamiKasumi and SusanTheCat! =D I am thinking of doing a "raising" Simulation/Visual Novel kind of thing with multiple choices like a CYOA (though it might be ambitious for a first-timer, but I really want to do it!), so these tips can help me think about ...
