Re: Yuri Game Jam 2016! (Oct 1st to 31st)
Ah! A chance to redeem my failure at the NaNoReno 8) http://www.fusebloware.com/Pics/DoomedDiner/YouFailed.jpg The Doomed Diner will be haunted once again! Working on the concept stuff right now. This time I will be properly prepared. I'll do it in straight "manga style" for speed and give...

Re: What is importan in a character?
Well, from a renpy point of view : it's important all the characters have a name that starts with a different letter (so you can refer to them in code by that single letter). Also, make sure all the names are very different for the reader's convenience. For example : Rebecca, Vanessa, Victoria are n...

Re: Tenkeiteki Tokyo [parody]
Thank you both. I sure can't wait to see it finished either. As it turned out, it takes a little longer than 2 months to finish  Anyway, here's a little background on the background/exposition of the story. Donkan is chased by the demon Rangaku. This demon senses that Donkan holds the key to th...

Re: Blurry Sprite after Resizing?
As LateWhiteRabbit said : you're downsampling to the point your edges get averaged with the surrounding colors. For example : thin black lines, white surrounding colors -> downsample like Hell -> result is gray which is neither black nor white, in other words : blur. Using sinc instead of cubic give...

Re: Methods to minimize file size
Well, one thing you could do is combine jpeg and png images. Jpeg typically gives better compression but it doesn't have an alpha mask. So, you could put the mask on its own in a png file and combine it with the jpeg that contains the colors. The mask will compress just fine in png format since it's...

Re: Tenkeiteki Tokyo [parody]
Well, with most of the backgrounds now done I can see a couple of issues (which is okay with me because I see Tenkeiteki Tokyo as a learning experience) : - The styles are very different. I started out with very coarsely drawn backgrounds but then started to make them more detailed. - None of these ...

Re: Tenkeiteki Tokyo [parody]
Yeah, I guess as long as I just keep the references in the background it should be okay. And I can always use the protagonist to explain things. After all : Donkan is not the brightest bulb (his name means "thick-headed"). For the people who don't know the Yamato I could have Donkan say : ...

Higurashi! If you like mystery/horror novels. You can find walkthroughs of it on youtube. I like the first chapter the best : Onikakushi-hen. It has a great ending ("Where is the needle?").

http://www.fusebloware.com/Pics/TenkeitekiTokyo/Yamato.jpg Raised and restored! Abe Shinzo got his wish. It's all happening in Typically Tokyo  One of the things I'm worrying about (apart from Turret A and Turret B not lining up, that's what you get when you freehand perspective) is that a lot...

Re: New VN dev looking for character design feedback
Hi Zurvon. It seems to me that your artist lines her angles up too much and everything is too symmetrical. Symmetry indicates flatness. Take a look at the shoulder line vs the hip line in the drawing of the woman walking towards the viewer. These two lines are never the same unless someone stands ex...

Re: Do you think visual novels are growing or slowly dying?
I wonder whether visual novels aimed at very young children would be a good idea. Regular novels are hardly ever illustrated but children´s books are. After all : visual novels are merely illustrated stories. I don't know whether such VNs aimed at a young audience exist.

Re: Tenkeiteki Tokyo [parody]
Thank you Zelan. Yeah, those pokemons are running rampant in the world nowadays  Anyway, I'm changing the premise of the story. I've found it quite hard to connect the different parts of the story I already have. The solution was simple : Donkan doesn't want to change his hikikomori ways at all...

Re: Welcome to Short Noncommercial Games
Well, this is the WIP section, so it's kind of like - if it's 2 months and you're still not finished, you should probably put it into the main section. The 2 months is more a recognition that 1-month games often run long. I think the problem is that the "short" in "short noncommercia...

Re: Tenkeiteki Tokyo [parody]
So, after some time I've resumed work on Tenkeiteki Tokyo. I'm doing the backgrounds now and they show some of the more recognizable parts of Tokyo like the "Ameyoko", Tokyo's famous market under the railroad : http://www.fusebloware.com/Pics/TenkeitekiTokyo/Ameyoko.jpg Of course, the Impe...

Re: Why so many unfinished VN?
I like the idea of "diversifiers". There's also a competitive edge to them (we got 10 out of 20 diversifiers, Hell yeah!). A minimum required number of people might indeed force people to form teams (but I do think it should be more than 2). I would like to see people speaking out in this ...
