Re: What music to listen to while drawing?

I never really listened to music while (what I call) drawing, but that's more because I was too lazy to collect a list of songs to play while doing it and I don't really like the songs that others prepared in '1hour of this genre, best totally epic collection WTF!' or whatever those YouTube videos c...

Re: Writing long visual novels/Avoiding "Mary Sues"

I read your VN because I got curious about checking out the writing style of a developer that I happen to be discussing [at this point] character development with. If something needs to be tagged, I will correct it. I'm going to mention one thing here because this discussion seems to have moved tow...

Re: Writing long visual novels

Considering we're throwing in examples, might as well explain how I prevented Richard, the protagonist from my story, to be Mary Sue: Richard is intelligent, cunning and manipulative. The very idea of the story is that he actually understands a bit how the Yandere thinks and what consequences his ac...

Re: Writing long visual novels

Given your analysis of both Bat-Man and Superman you do not have up-to-date character lists. I tried to take two characters that pretty much everyone knew. Unfortunately I can't say anything about Meliodas as I haven't seen that anime. Same for Rey, I haven't watched the new Star Wars movie ...

Re: "And now, time to study" ("Y ahora, a estudiar")

Sorry for reviving a buried thread, Lemmasoft community, but when I saw there were virtually no reviews of this game I had to give one myself. And considering how the second act of the spanish version will apparently be released in some time too, this might actually draw the interest of some people ...

Re: Writing long visual novels

Fun fact: I've already composed 80+ tracks over the past 5 months in preparation for this VN. 40 of which did make it to the music folder, and I anticipate removing most of what remains. Taking into account the fact that it usually takes me somewhere between 12 and 18 hours to compose one so...

Re: Site for visual novel, and other game, hosting.

Hi the Gillman, I think plenty of people here will be willing to host their games on other VN-oriented sites to reach a wider audience, myself included. I'm not sure if my game is 'open source', but it's free and I've made it completely Creative Commons so I think it probably will be. You might want...

Re: Writing long visual novels

As far as the length of time, that's quite interesting! I never knew they spend that much time on it. It's probably good to take into account the fact that they all likely had other things going on in their personal lives that prevented them from working on it full time. Not to say that I don't but...

Re: The Falconers: Moonlight [Supernatural/Thriller][Commerc

Just played the demo and I have to say I'm intrigued. Hunters fighting giant insects and arachea behind the scenes of history? Considering the short span of the demo, you guys did well in delivering on a lot of criteria of whether this will be a good story. A good story usually has a good start to g...

Re: The Knife of the Traitor[NaNoRenO 2012] Translations!!!

Amazing game, loved the sprites specifically for certain moments. It really showed your dedication, knowing how each new sprite meant at least a few hours of work just to optimalise that one interaction or funny moment. I mean, there are big-production games with large budgets that keep certain char...

Re: Uneven distribution of choices? And other qs

My common route is mobile otome style, aka brief intro of characters, pick a route out of a menu, and go. In other words, quite early. The choices will all be personality based aka "Be an asshole" vs "Don't be an asshole". Do you think this would be too obvious/boring? With a mo...

Re: Writing long visual novels

I've recently wrote a story of 100.000-120.000 words myself, but considering it's just that one I'm not too sure if the advice I'm about to give is very good. However, considering this is your very first post as well, suggesting you don't have much experience with VN either, I'm going to give you al...

Re: Uneven distribution of choices? And other qs

I think the three main points of relevance on what defines a good (or bad) route system are not whether the choices appear early or late but: 1) Whether the choices actually (feel like) they matter. If you have a game with many choices that result in one or two paragraphs of alternative dialogue bef...

Re: Getting back on your feet.

Good point @TheJerminator15, I found that I lacked the urge to continue my project when I didn't work on it for a few days, just like games I meant to play later can become less and less attractive if I don't touch them for a while. Katawa Shoujo's desktop shortcut has been looking at me for over a ...

Re: Do you play as same or opposite gender?

With VN's I actually prefer otome to otaku despite being male, because I tend to find the otome's romanceable routes more relatable than the cardboard-cutout protagonist men in otaku games. They have strengths, weaknesses and nuances I can relate to without feeling like they're pandering the charact...
