Re: New Term for Visual Novels? [split]
http://weeaboo.nl/2013/01/the-walking-dead-and-visual-novels/ That article does seem a bit silly. The focus on the 'novel' part (part of why the term novel is problematic, but oh well) and a close-minded view of what level of interactivity is permitted add up to a pretty shallow case. First of all,...

Re: 360-degree 2d panorama
A 360 degree panorama is just a 2D image that wraps around at the edges.
Your example video also uses a (very unrealistic) camera distortion effect which AFAIK can't be done with Ren'Py at the moment.

Re: Reduce filesize of images, pictures, etc.
You shouldn't have to fiddle with JPEG color channels -- just use greyscale JPEGs to store the alpha (and use the JCC script if you're doing this with Ren'Py). That said, a greyscale PNG will still be of comparable or sometimes even smaller size (and without the risk of compression artifacts in your...

Re: Reduce filesize of images, pictures, etc.
Are you knew any software for produce good/perfect results to reduce filesize without "degrades quality dramatically"? Tell about this. The problem isn't JPEG, the problem is resaving JPEGs. Keep all your files in a lossless format (for example PNG), then batch-convert them to JPEG during...

>Resave all jpg pictures in MS Paint. It is reduce filesize to 50% or more.
Never resave JPEGs, it degrades quality dramatically (and JPEG does a poor job of compressing its own compression artifacts).
Never use MS Paint to produce JPEGs, its results are very poor compared to other programs.

Re: Ren'Py Constantly Crashing (Freezing) In Tutorial
This computer is five years old and I'm pretty sure Dell isn't going to have a specialized driver for it anymore. Does anyone have any advice on this? Is there anything I can do? Uninstalling the current driver, then reinstalling with the generic Intel driver has worked for me in the past. You coul...

Updating the driver of your graphics chip should fix your problem.

Upload/post your log.txt, the most likely culprit is an outdated graphics driver.

Sounds like the font you've chosen to use doesn't contain Arabic characters.

Re: Memory management?
The file data is already cached in RAM by the hard drive and/or OS, so caching file data manually would usually be redundant. The decoded pixels are stored in the image cache, not the raw file data. I never looked into the issue as all of the memory issues in my game were code-related and disappear...
