Re: Android/iOS dimensions

If a client asked for 1920x1080, that's what I'd give them. They can scale it down if they need various smaller sizes, and they can do a bit of cropping if they need different aspect ratios. If someone handed me a 720p image when I asked for 1080p, I'd say: "Okay, this is a nice proof. Please s...

Re: What's your process for making GUI?

I tend to keep it in placeholder mode until the very late stages of the project. This reduces the chance that I'll make significant changes to the UI after a bunch of art has already been made for it. As far as the visual design goes, I lean towards simple & clean.

Unity Game Engine Will Support Ren'Py? (article)

I just stumbled across this article from yesterday:

It looks like they're going off a Twitter post. Can anyone confirm this?

Re: AnimeFest 2016 (Aug 12-15) Dallas

I'd like to join a pre-con meet, but it's up in the air right now. Depending on the current contract, I'll either be coming from Austin on the Saturday morning (3.5 hour drive), or from 30-minutes north of Dallas, whenever the heck I feel like.

If you don't get many bites, you might want to try fiverr.com (why two R's?)

Re: Promoting my visual novel in Japan

I've seen VN's for sale at tables at Comic Market (both summer and winter events). I've heard that you have to join a lottery to get a table, but I think that might be better than the first-come, first-serve methods for most conventions.

Re: Questions on Managing a Team and Keeping on Task

About finding reliable people: My 3D art teacher from back in the day would sometimes bring some of his students onto his side contract projects. He'd always start them off with a test task that requires a few hours of work first, though. Even if the results didn't look great, completing the task e...

Re: How do you come up with ideas?

The most effective method for me is bouncing ideas off another person. Failing that, I like to go for a walk and brainstorm away from the computer

Re: Juggling writing along with a fulltime job

For me, the greatest enemies are thoughts like: "Well, I only have 30 minutes free, so there's no point working on the project." Great breakthroughs often happen during very short work sessions, and I have to work even if I only have a tiny bit of time available.

Re: Curious how others update their games or..

Unless the game is pretty large (e.g. multiple gigs), most studios replace the entire game on update. Many game platforms don't even support partial updating.

Re: Basic Commission Prices ?

You'll get more (and probably better) answers if you post or link some images indicating the level of quality you're shooting for. I pretty much have to do that when I get bids from animation/illustration studios.
