Re: Cyberlin - work in progress

Yes, you can define the lines yourself. Plus I'm shrinking the picture, so the lines get even thinner. Some preset lines simulate sketching strokes, very nice (see attachment) - I can see myself using them for my next (less serious) VN.

Re: Cyberlin - work in progress

Small update - I've been fighting with backgrounds for a long time now and decided to discard both my Inkscape-based ones and the photograph-based ones. I just couldn't seem to get the atmosphere right, and then luckily (thanks to this forum) stumbled over SketchUp , which gave me the exact result I...

Re: Fruity Loop anybody?

Never used FL. I guess what you should use depends on what you want the software to do. I'm using an old Cubase version (and some old ones you can get pretty cheap), but then again I'm using outboard gear and no computer-based virtual instruments.

Re: Generic: It's what's for dinner!

One guy and fifteen girls? (Including nurse and teacher)
Parents gone out of the house? (Guy home alone for the whole term)
Day planner? (morning, afternoon, evening with studies/sports/fun)

... wait, I'm afraid with all that it would probably become a major hit.

Re: How Do I Get Midi Files To Play Here

Since both offer trial versions, why don't you just download them and see which one you like best? After all, we already did recommend Synthfont instead (and answered your volume question). So it's best to check yourself which software you like most/you're most comfortable with. I've only used Synth...

If you don't mind handing it out at this stage, that's a good idea. It would be quite the source of inspiration.

Re: Hirameki gone

Luckily I still managed to order a pile of DVDs before they disappear (Piece of Wonder, Exodus Guilty Interactive 1-3, Dragonia Interactive, Ai Yori Aoshi). Currently in the mail... and now the next question is when I will ever have time to play them all. ^_^;;;

I'd be very honored to help out - could you list some requirements to help me assess the amount of work (how many songs, theme/length, rough schedule)?

Re: Writing Method: Linear vs Non-linear

I'm a kind of jigsaw-puzzle-piece writer. A scene presents itself to me, I sit down and write it. In no chronological order whatsoever. So the more I write, the more complete the story gets, until I reach the point when I have to fill in the final pieces. It's a very weird way to write (especially s...

Re: Hirameki gone

What a pity. That's quite a blow to the English-language VN scene... And I haven't even started playing E17 nor Exodus 1... should pre-play them to decide whether to still buy the rest of the series. ;_;

Thanks to PyTom for making our dream of easy VN development true! I for myself will try to contribute to the statistics by finishing my elusive current work-in-progress in 2008. :-) Happy New Year everybody!
