Re: How to format editing samples?

Typically, when asked for editing samples, I provide links to the released games which I've worked on. That way, the potential recruiter can play the game for themself to check whether it looks like I did a good job, or, if they don't have time or don't have money to purchase the game (if it's comm...

How to format editing samples?

Hi all. As an editor, I've seen a few postings in the Recruitment section that ask for samples of editing work. I'm a little lost as to the best way to format one of these samples. For instance, is it best to make two columns, and have the original on one side and edited version on the other? To use...

Re: [GxG] Square One - Demo Available! [Drama/Romance]

Really enjoyed the demo, and can't wait to see where the story goes! The writing was realistic, interesting, and had a unique tone to it that I really enjoyed. All of the art was great, and especially the GUI stood out to me as one of the best I've seen. I'll also be keeping close eyes on this proje...

Very nicely done! You did a great job world-building in such a short time, and delivered a simple but strong story. I enjoyed it a lot!

Re: [Free] Editor/Proofreader looking to expand VN experience!

I'm back from travelling internationally, and I'm open for new projects! I'll have a lot of free time over the next month or so, so I should be able to work even more quickly than usual. I'm also open to longer-term projects as well, though! Feel free to get in touch with me through PMs or email (ir...

Re: Hermes & Gry: A Crooked Plan [Free] [Fantasy / Dark Humor / Adventure]

I know I'm kind of late on this one, but I finally got around to playing it after downloading it a month or two ago. I enjoyed it a lot! The humor was spot on, the plot always kept twisting and turning, and the mechanics worked very well with the game. Highly recommended, and looking forward to futu...

Re: The sky was blue. | [Mental Illness | FREE | Short]

Personally, I think that having the reader click for every line was a positive. I think it engages the reader more than having the text automatically appear, and adds to the sense of being in the MC's head.

Re: How and how often do you back up projects

I also use Git, backed up to Bitbucket . Personally, I find the command line for Git to be unwieldy, so I use SourceTree for Git commands. In my experience, SourceTree is really easy to use once you understand how Git works. Like Rastagong, I highly recommend BitBucket's Git tutorials for getting st...

Re: The sky was blue. | [Mental Illness | FREE | Short]

Wow.

To say that I enjoyed it doesn't capture the experience, in a number of ways. What I can say, though, is that this is an amazingly engaging and interesting game. Wonderful job. This one will have me thinking for a while.

Re: The Passage of Ingenuity [NaNo18][Drama][Sci-Fi][BxG][Demo]

Yay! I played through it and it was a lot of fun! Both characters have very well-defined personalities and they really show well through the script. Not to mention the awesome visuals! The sprites are amazing, the backgrounds fit in perfectly, and the GUI meshes really well with the other parts. I'm...

Glad to hear you're making good progress! Lun's sprite is gorgeous and your background is looking great too! I've been following this idea for a while and I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Re: Does this sound like something worth playing?

Agreed. If the concept speaks to you, if there's a story you want to tell, you should tell it. I believe that what makes a popular or "good" product is the passion that goes into making it.

Re: Minimum Viable Product and Repeated Scenes

Hm, interesting question. I agree that outright repeating events can seem unprofessional. Of course, the absolutely ideal solution is to, indeed, write 18 separate scenes - but that's not always practical. Instead, you may want to consider how to either adapt a scene to a different but similar scena...

Re: [TRAILER][DEMO]Ballad of a Dream [Perspective of Life][Short]

Woah, lots of new content! Super exciting! The trailer is interesting! It's definitely attention-grabbing. It sets up your premise and gives a good idea of the atmosphere of the game. 1. I found the credits to be a little hard to read, but not too bad. If you don't want to slow it down, I think it m...

Re: Ballad of a Dream [Perspective of Life][Short]

I've been lurking in that feedback thread since you started it, and I'm so glad you've decided to move forward with this idea! I loved the original short story and I can't wait to see what you come up with now that you're moving on to a KN!
