Re: When making creative commons!
I haven't seen many gender ambiguous cc sprites, so that may be something people would appreciate more of. They can suit a variety of needs: tomboy, feminine guy, some non-binary/genderqueer types, someone trying to disguise themselves as another gender, etc. I think just the fact that you're intere...

Re: Commercial art pricing?
The emphasis, for me at least, isn't on whether you provide financial support. It's whether you're a part of the game's development beyond filling an order. I would give royalties to someone who provided input, took initiative, and acted as a partner rather than employee, over someone footing a bill.

Re: Non-Binary?
Anyway what it comes down to on this subject for me is this. If *you* don't like non-binary as a term, don't use it to describe yourself. If genderqueer is a better descriptor of who you are, then use that. However, there are people for whom non-binary is a term that best describes who they are. Wh...

Re: Commercial art pricing?
That kind of ignores that the art contributes to the sales of a commercial work though. It costs more to offset the fact that an artist's contribution to a commercial work could make the developer back many, many times more than the artist is paid. In essence it's about getting paid fairly, not abo...

Re: Technical question about writing a script for the game
Thanks for the answers, looks like I'll try to do it with Twine (at least the general outline). The more detailed script, with dialogues and whatnot, I'll probably just write as separate scenes in separate files, and assign them to plot points in Twine... If you find a better alternative than Twine...

Re: When the Narrator's Perspective is Different...
I would say only do this if you can do it very well. Otherwise, no. If you're worried about your game affecting your image, you can always put a disclaimer at the start of the game to distance yourself from your characters' views, rather than squeeze it into the middle of the game.

Re: Technical question about writing a script for the game
When it comes to branching stories, I usually do the outline in twine. Its setup is like postcards on a board, so it's easy to see the overview, and it highlights segments with broken paths and such which is super helpful. It can get a bit cumbersome with bigger stories, but it's what's worked best ...

Re: Writing bad decisions
Tone is a big factor. School Days has severe consequences, but you know going in that you'll be dealing with crazy. With horror/thriller games, dangerous options are more a feature than a balancing issue. On the other hand, the same kind of consequences in a light hearted game would seem unfair. The...

Re: Commercial art pricing?
I personally don't care for commercial premiums, even if I'm looking at commissions for a non-commercial project. When shopping for commissions seeing them is a click-away for me, as it's usually not hard to find someone offering a similar service without them. Once I start doing public commissions ...

In that case, go with whatever feels right to you. We can't tell you the right answer on who to cast as the lead. I especially can't if you're planning on gearing this heavily towards males, as I am not. I personally would prioritize the story's quality, which sounds like it would be the female.

Background Compilation [Commercial Allowed]
I recently went through this forum and saved several BGs for potential future use. I figured I'd share the file in case anyone else would like it. The file is 232 MBs. Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vec8vcz7ijt3z56/Backgrounds.zip?dl=0 - Every BG is allowed for both Commercial and Non-Commercial us...

Re: How to point this in the right direction
1. I think that's fine so long as you make a strong distinction. Like say you split the game into two parts/books/chapters/etc. When you start the game have a [whatever] 1 splashscreen, and at the transition a [whatever] 2 splashscreen. And of course inform people beforehand in the game's descriptio...

You say you've got two artists. What are they doing for the project, and what are their styles/what style are you looking for?
