Re: What do you honestly think of my art?
It's definitely good enough to make a VN with, but I use "make" very loosely (as in, if you put it out there, people won't scream and run away from it, but they probably won't care enough to pick it up either). It's not terrible, but it's not great either. The lineart is very sketchy and t...

Re: Love interest doing something gamer DON't LIKE.
"Why don't games make characters do things that people don't like?" Probably because then it would cease being an otome game and start becoming more of a drama or thriller. When people buy otome games they do so because they want to feel safe doing something they might not want to do in re...

Re: How do you avoid "convenient" or "coincidental" plotting
Thats a hell of a thread necro, but anyway, I think Imp3rfekt hit the nail on the head. You need to actually include something in the story from the start, because if you suddenly introduce it without warning it feels contrived. That isn't to say that in real life things don't happen without warning...

Re: Gameplay For An RPG Horror
Corpse Party was made in RPG Maker, so that's what you will need to use, Renpy does not support RPGs without heavy Python coding knowledge. If you can't afford it, your only choice is to wait for a sale. The older versions of RPG Maker often go on sale for extremely cheap. RPG Maker XP was just $5 i...

I most certainly do. It's the least I can do to help. The exception being if it's too spoilery to put in public.

Re: How crowded is the visual novel market now?
What can set a visual novel apart? * The premise is different enough. It doesn't need a gimmick, it can just be memorable. If you look at iTunes or Steam and have a tough time finding something other than slice of life romance, then write something like action-adventure or historical mystery. * The...

This should obviously be in Renpy Questions but, yes, it's definitely possible, you just need to use a conditional branch, and variables.

Re: Jump scares in a game that isn't an horror game
Do you need to announce your game will have jump scares? Please do, so I know not to buy it. All kidding aside, it is in very bad form not to announce something like jump scares, because some people physically can't handle such things. I just dislike them whether it's a horror game or not. C...

Re: BxG and GxB difference?
BxG means that the protagonist is a Boy. GxB means that the protagonist is a Girl. It's a little bit more complex than that, the terms basically imply that the game is a dating sim where the main character is the first gender and they can date the second gender. The fact that it has a lot of romanc...

Re: What makes a VN good/bad?
And which is more important to you guys; the art or the story? Personally, the story for me is more important than the art. However, I also won't pay attention to a game if the art style doesn't appeal to me. The character designs or the background art? Character designs, easily, but again if the b...

Re: How crowded is the visual novel market now?
The entire indie game market is crowded and visual novels are no exception. In recent years it has become far easier to make games and that is reflected in the increasing need for marketing. I'll err towards "far worse" rather than "better", as right now it's nearly impossible to...

Re: Using sprites & blurred background in events illustratio
I think you're forgetting the entire function of a CG, which is to show a scene of action that would be impossible to depict using a regular sprite. So I think no mater what you do, using regular sprites for CGs will look like cutting corners. I guess in your case you have no choice, but I wouldn't ...
