FMA: Brotherhood
Since you folks are the only anime enthusiasts I have any contact with, I thought I'd ask a question - is the new Fullmetal Alchemist (called Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood here in the States) worth watching if I've already seen the first series? The new series is on YouTube (officially sponsored ...

Re: Your most favorite obscure game?
If we're naming musical groups, then I'll have to mention all my favorites that my friends have never heard of (they seem to have international popularity but not much fame in these parts - my favorite bands, not my friends): Fever Ray, The Knife, Röyksopp, Boards of Canada, and sometimes Mouse on M...

Future Boy Conan FTW
Actually, I don't really know if that's obscure. Don't really know any anime fans at all these days.

I don't know a whole lot about Newgrounds or DeviantArt, but I know that Ren'Py has never run in a browser, unlike the flash games on Newgrounds and DeviantArt you might be thinking of.

A speech problem and dangerous politics aren't necessarily signs of a below-average intelligence in the areas of abstract logic, mathematics, and written language.

Re: The Ten Rules of Detective Fiction
Agatha Christie did indeed make one of her detectives a culprit, but it seems wrong to to reveal just which detective, and in which work,
even in spoiler space.

Re: The Ten Rules of Detective Fiction
The detective must occasionally commit the crime himself. Agatha Christie knew this. And excluding the fourth or so of the world's population that happens to be Chinese seems to be awfully limiting in today's world. Also, I like a lot of secret passages, hidden compartments, etc. But I understand th...

4chan in the BBC
Lately BBC News's top online story has been a piece on the mass uploading of stealthily disguised pornographic videos to YouTube, and apparently 4chan has been blamed for some of the activity. What do y'all make of that? I haven't exactly braved the depths of 4chan myself, so I don't know what to th...

Re: Gamemaking: Complexity, beta-testing, and buggy releases
Testing seems like an obvious solution, but every year the IF competition includes games that were never beta-tested, much to the judges' chagrin.

Yes.
What I've seen in the interactive fiction community, though, is that you can squash a whole lot of the bugs beforehand by having your game conscientiously tested by third parties.

Re: How do you make the text move in instead of just appearing?
After changing the text speed number in your script, you need to delete your persistent data before launching the project again. At least I think that's the issue here.
