Feature requests
You really need to be able to skip the card animations to go faster, and it would be a vast help to have the values of the cards you can take. I realize part of the skill of the game is memorizing the cards and all, but for n00bs it would be better to just scaffhold it, and then take away the scores...

That's true for most cases, but there are important exceptions. In RTS, Blizzard's Starcraft and Warcraft series gave out editors that allowed to 'reinvent' the game on each map. In the shot'em up sector, there actually are differentiable styles: the 'terror' games like early quakes and dooms, bloo...

Genres
This is a very interesting discussion, and it brings up some thoughts I had about genres. First, some background: In both movies and games, marketers like genres. If your movie gets an "Action" label, people know where to put it in the store and it's easy to take people who like "Acti...

Yeah, throwing in timed actions in a game that doesn't always have them can be tricky to do well. I don't think it's impossible, though. I think the design challenge revolves around making sure you A) don't throw the player into a completely new genre of game unexpectedly, B) when the timed sequence...

Phoenix Wright and animation counts
I've been playing a lot of Phoenix Wright and it's storytelling really impressed me. It really ratchets up the tension and then backs down and really follows good storytelling conventions even as it is totally wacky. It's not a romance (even with several lovely ladies in the cast), but it *is* a rea...

Narrativist vs. Mappers
[I started writing this when I was responding to Sai's post about whether or not RPGs should continue on after the big boss was defeated. It sort of grew, so it got its own thread.] [Also, hi. I almost never post, but I lurk a lot.] Most popular narrative structures suggest that once your external a...

A. Park good game.
Liked it a lot. Oil-paint art very striking. I like romance novels, and this reminded me of one.

Nifty game.
Like them short like that; can enjoy after long day at work.
In order:
Ending 1: 1:47
Ending 3: 10:30
Ending 2: 1:05
Ending 4: 2:06
And I read like a maniac and used the skip function.
