Umm...not sure if this counts, but my first game would be snake on my dad's old Nokia Phone (Those practically indestructable phones)
On the PC, it was minesweeper.
On a console, mario bros on the SNES.

I think what's important is setting your horizon line and vanishing point first. To me, the vanishing point appears to be closer to the left. It's obviously going to be a one point perspect drawing...As for the books, I think you're going to have to use eyesight and guess on them. It'll take time, b...
