Re: Need some opinions from experienced game makers.
Hi everyone. I've recently gotten into VNs with an auspicious meeting with Narcissu (my first ever was FSN but I kinda' fell asleep on and never finished it :P). Like everyone else, I was impressed by the quality of the narrative and the possibility of creating an intimate atmosphere with just bann...

Re: Hybrid VN
Well, to be honest, the concept of bundling a few pages of manga with the VN really is just a gimmick. The idea is simply to more closely tie VNs to print media and get them into stores that normally wouldn't carry such things. And that really seems to be the Achilles heel for VNs (at least in Amer...

Re: number of participants building your own visual novel studio
Right now I'm hoping to secure this as my project's final roster: - 1 writer (myself) - 1 character designer (filled) - 1 character sprite artist (empty) - 1 event artist (empty) - 1 colorist (empty) - 1 composer (empty) and maybe a programmer if Ren 'Py gives me a hard time = 3= I think that's a p...

Re: How do you overcome speech fear...
And If someone screams "You lie" during your speech, throw a tin can at him. That's about the worst thing you can do. The best thing is to invite him to the stage and ask him to present his point of view to the audience. Of course, there is a risk that he is a professional agent provocate...

Re: Need artist to continue my project....
Good day, everyone. Three months ago, I just completed my first project http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5408 And now I planned to go for the sequel. For the first, I draw and write. But now, something happened and I cannot draw again. I still can write though. So.... Anyon...

Re: Where is the horizon line usually?
Effort-wise, it's in-between. I'm going to use the 3D modeling paradigm by using transforms in Photoshop to map textures to landscape lineart. Personally, I'd prioritize the backgrounds according to the time the player looks at them, and invest effort into them accordingly... but that's just the pr...

Re: Naze? Nani! Novel!?
Even though the storyline may be told in first person, you still get narrated to. The main character may be visually faceless for the most part but you are free to give him/her a personality. Oh, don't be afraid to mix and match. For example, you can use first person throughout most of the story but...

Re: Where is the horizon line usually?
I guess that depends on how much effort you want to invest into the backgrounds, whether you do the scientifically correct but laborious thing or just take the quick and dirty solution. =) Effort-wise, it's in-between. I'm going to use the 3D modeling paradigm by using transforms in Photoshop to ma...

Re: How To Sell VN?
I really dislike the suggestion of a $2 price point. The iPhone ecosystem had an unhealthy "race to the bottom", price-wise. I don't think we should subject our games to that, especially in a relatively niche market where you probably won't make up for in volume what you lose in profit-pe...

You can disable visibility of the background layer for easy transparency.
