Re: Jobs
I teach high school Japanese. I tip my hat to a lot of the schedules you guys keep and still work on VNs, it's amazing!

Re: Corpse Party:Blood Covered to become Localized
Absolutely loved this game! It's part of what got me back here, working on VNs again. I liked the way the story developed and the way the characters developed past their initial anime archetypes. Keeping my fingers crossed for Book of Shadows!

Re: Feedback on sprites for new game
Thank you three very much for your suggestions, all of them are extremely helpful. I'm going to try incorporating your suggestions and redoing it on a larger canvas (I looked up what size the sprites were on the demo games that come with Ren'Py (generally 350 pixels wide and about 600 tall) and went...

Feedback on sprites for new game
Hey Lemma Soft Forums! Gonna give this VN thing another go. I have most of my story down, but sprite creation/art's another issue. It's something I'd like to learn to do anyway, so if you guys wouldn't mind, please take a look at one of the sprites I created and let me know how I can improve her. I ...

Re: Ludum Dare 21
Good luck, Applegate, I'm not sure about photo backgrounds or the like. I'm right there with you on art. I'm trying to create my own backgrounds and characters for the experience (and hopefully improvement), but so far...ugh. Having the same issue with music. It's definitely an experience though. :D

Re: Ludum Dare 21
The theme is up on Twitter - it's Escape! I'm gonna give the Jam version a shot, just for the experience, but I'm keeping it small since I'm new to Ren'Py. Good luck to all who try and keep us posted!

Re: Ren'Py @ Otakon 2008
I'm so glad to hear the panel went well, despite the PC mix-up! I was late getting to the BCC and completely missed the VN photoshoot. I popped in and saw the MVN panel looked full, so I didn't stay. I would have liked to have heard the presentation, especially about "beginner mistakes" in...

Re: Ren'Py @ Otakon 2008
Yes! I was so excited when I saw the tutorial on the Otakon schedule! I will definitely be there (it's been forever since I've played with RenPy).

Re: Are visual novels mostly aimed for males?
Interesting topic. I think that most commercial VNs are aimed at males, the female/otome market seems pretty small in comparison and what games there are seem mostly reverse harem style, as to where a lot of the VNs for males have progressed from just dating-sims/renai into having an overaching plot...

Re: Visual Novel Translation World Record Attempt!
I'll give the Japanese translation a shot, if that's all right with everyone. It'll be a good learning experience working with Japanese fonts in Ren'Py.

I'm in! NaNoWriMo has done wonders for getting me to write, so let's see if NaNoRenO can get me over my fear of letting people see my horrid artwork!

Re: Hirameki gone
Noooooooooooo. *weeps bitter, "Bad End"-style tears* And I just finished Ever17! Pleeeease Hirameki, think of the infinity series! Seriously though, this is disappointing, to say the least. I know marketting was a struggle for them (there was an article about their struggle to get their VN...

Re: I guess I'll go first! ^_^
OK I'll give this a shot... I'm 23 and finishing up my degree in East Asian Studies. I work part time as a Japanese teacher at a local high school. Do I love it? Depends which day of the week you ask! ;-) My current favorite anime/manga are Monster, Yawara, Nana, Chrno Crusade, FMA, Slayers, and Dea...

Re: Re:
I also felt like there were other scenes that could have had a CG image or animation for them without too much difficulty, but I have that gripe with a lot of VNs. I read somewhere (I think on Hirameki's blog) in an interview that more animations were planned, but they had to cut down because they ...
