Compatibility w/Windows 7 Public Beta - Windows 7 Build 7000
I just ran through the entire demo script for Ren'Py and did not encounter a single issue with it running. no warnings, no lag (apart from full-layer zoom, but that's somewhat slow on XP as well, so it's not a Windows 7 issue), no crashes. The only thing I could not test was MPEG-1 playback due to n...

Re: WIPs and Effort : A Recent Trend
quickly skimming over this thread from a fresh Windows 7 beta installation... So why should the writer have enough faith to work on a script if there's a real possibility that not a single artist will volunteer himself after the writer finishes the script? because most of them have no other option. ...

Re: WIPs and Effort : A Recent Trend
Yeah, I'll admit to having been part of the problem in bulk about 3 years ago (and fairly recently when I attempted to get a VN made in under 2 weeks - not a good idea, mind you). I've learned a few things out of it, though, and I'm not gonna pull the same mistake a 4th (IIRC*) time I can tell you r...

Re: Date display overlay and related questions
after some more thorough testing, the functionality is there. the only other thing I would like is to set a background (be it a window or a frame or whatever) for the area occupied by the date so that if I have a bright background with a near-white spot in the top right, the date doesn't "disap...

Re: Date display overlay and related questions
It took a bit of playing with it, but I got it to work right (thank god I can actually figure out what's going on with the error.txt/traceback.txt files - that actually helps a lot) the script I ended up with, in case anyone's interested: # Control the date and date calculations with regards to the ...

Re: Date display overlay and related questions
I'll run that code through some tests (after a few small adjustments - I can see some bugs would be happening there.)
still leaves #1 kinda... unanswered for me, though.

[answered] Date display overlay and related questions
okay, at the risk of spoiling some of the surprise on one of my secret projects, I have a few questions that involve dates, overlays, and date calculations: 1) [answered] what script would I need to use to display a date (not necessarily a real-world (month/day/year) date, but a date nonetheless) at...

Re: error solving help
all of those errors are due to the jump commands being indented into their own block (as opposed to matching the indent of the block you're trying to put them in) except for the last one, which is a case of a label not being named correctly (labels can only have one word as a name - "after_scho...

Re: Legal issues with Fanservice and H-scenes
The US legal system (assuming my memory is correct) is flip-flopping on this one, since I know that one time they said that fictional characters are protected by first amendment rights even if the fictional character in question was under 18 and engaging in perverse and/or sexual acts. unfortunately...

Re: The Cute, light and fluffy project!
*pokes this thread with a stick* I think I've settled on a reasonable deadline for those not planning on entering the NaNoRenO: April 2nd (not April 1st - won't be able to tell the jokes from the real stuff! >.<). those planning on entering the NaNoRenO would probably deserve extra time to compensat...

Re: The Cute, light and fluffy project!
I tend to make a big distinction between a linear VN and a Kinetic Novel.
a linear VN has a few choices that only subtly change events and don't result in a [drastically] different ending.
a kinetic novel has no choices at all.

Re: The Cute, light and fluffy project!
I am willing to test out VN's in my spare time to make sure stuff works and what-not. besides, I might learn a trick or two doing so.
you can PM them to me if they're at that point (if you have a method of UL'ing it somewhere I can get it from).
