Re: Any ideas to incentivize a protagonist to play RSP?

It depends on what kind of tone you want? I think something like Kaiji or even Kakegurui, since it's based on making seemingly mundane games really intense. Or you could take the opposite track and go parody mode, like in ProZD's "Tic-Tac-Toe as an Anime" skit https://www.youtube.com/watch...

Re: Do your game have a Facebook page?

Another difficulty with FB is, the only ones who really see new updates are the people you already have, unless you have a lot of people who like and share your posts, so spreading content is difficult unless you manually post your page around or you can afford to advertise it. We've had better luck...

Re: Do your game have a Facebook page?

Liked these pages! Don't mind following more people either, just to see what people are up to. We have a group page up here, with most content based on Camera Anima itself: https://www.facebook.com/expressomutt/ We tend to post at least once every few weeks (though we want to increase that sometime)...

Re: Which videogame exhibitons should I have to go?

It couldn't hurt to try local. If you have any local indie groups that host events (meetups, exhibitions, etc.), it's a great way to network and they're probably have a better idea of where to look in your area aside from the big ones like Gamescom.

Re: Do you let your artists publish your commissioned art?

We've had art commissioned and we haven't had any problems with them using the work they've done for us for their portfolio. As daikiraikimi said, artists retain rights to their work and it's unfair to tell them they can't use it for their own purposes at all. The only thing I'd ask is to clarify wh...

Re: Quick Time Events in Visual Novels

The main takeaway here is that a timed menu needs to have warning, because VNs are specifically designed for you to be able to walk away and grab a cup of tea at any moment, and sit back and drink it while the thing plays. A "BE ALERT" warning sounds good to me to give warning, or by intr...

Re: Quick Time Events in Visual Novels

Agreeing with, it depends on audience/how it's integrated into the game. I personally don't mind QTE (our project even has some planned) and feel like they can help heighten a situation, with TellTale or even Oxenfree having a nice formula for that. By introducing QTE early, players get a feel for i...

Re: Dealing with frustration

Aside from finishing the draft, my advice would be to step back and do a thorough plot outline first (about 1-4 pages), which focuses on telling the game's plot progression through how the player will encounter it. For ex: "Whether through combat or infiltration, the player retrieves the acorn ...

Re: Y;N [Mystery & Psychological Horror, inkl Point&Click]

Gave this a play recently and, even if it's not the full version, it's pretty promising and enjoyable for what it is! The setting has a lot of interesting clues and it has a great hook from the start. Though the walkthrough link is broken, the gameplay is intuitive enough that I could figure out mos...

Also answered it and I agree, I wish there were some additional fields for expanding on why some of the answers are what they are, even aside from other.

Re: Imagemaps or Imagebuttons?

It depends on what you want to do, really. I use image buttons primarily but that's because a ) I find them easier to edit and code for b ) my game is a point-and-click game so I have a lot of different sorts of interaction points and things are often added or removed. If you have something like a n...

Re: The Falconers: Moonlight [Supernatural/Thriller][Commerc

I ended up giving this a play and really enjoyed it a fair bit! It has the feeling of volume 1/arc one of a larger story, with the hints in the setting and character backstories, and the presentation aspects are definitely one of the strongest/more immersive aspects of it. I also liked that a lot of...
