Re: Options to be alone in an otome game
Maybe you could explore friendships or other non romantic things if you don't really want to do the alone option each time. It could make for an interesting route, in my opinion.

Re: daydreaming // GxB/G, short? friendship?
You've been drawing for only "a lil over a year now" and you're already this good? Wow. Just...that's amazing. My learning curve was much larger than that! I like the premise of being trapped in a dream world. It seems like a story you could make as psychedelic, trippy, cute, or fun...

Thank you so much for the feedback! Am glad you love our designs right now! Along with the feedback of Chiyo and Sanae you brought up, makes really sense so decided to make the change into their bios! As for Hanako, I believe that she most definitely benefit from a hobby but for right now, it wont ...

Re: 2016 Indie Visual Novel Developer Demographic Survey!
Those 2014 results hurt my pride, I fall in both the category of most likely gender and age of not finishing a project. Well...P&Y counts for something! If it's anything like the 2014 one then just playing VN's should already qualify you, but the survey is closed already. Thanks for answe...

By developer, do you mean those who have released a visual novel in the past year?

Re: Making Visual Novels (For People Who Hate Visual Novels)
A poignant quote from the OP's article mentioned a reviewer who said that "visual novels are for people who like visual novels." I want to reword this to "visual novels are for people who like reading." I can't completely agree here. Some people who like reading (like myself) us...

Love your designs. How do you feel about the potential love interests? Who was your favorite and why? Nanami definitely has hidden depths. A character who is nice 100% of the time can be hard to round out, but she definitely has a sense of drive and personality that makes her feel more human. Sorry,...

Re: Eliminating all forms of "to be": Active Voice
Okay, I understand. Thank you for the clarification, everyone. I'm trying to learn how to write in active voice because I found many of my sentences dull or too long, but I think I went a little overboard by assuming that I shouldn't use passive sentence structures.

MORE BROWN PEOPLE EVERYWHERE!! That's pretty much... it. I want to play more games with brown people. I want to play more games with brown people in fantasy games especially. There are some, but not enough to align with my interests. I finally have a medium where I could actually do something about...

Re: How do you avoid "convenient" or "coincidental" plotting
The way I've seen other writers do this, they would make the letter appear in a seemingly unimportant scene, completely out of context (and before it's of any relevance to the story). Similar to how a movie scene will zoom in, or repeatedly get a certain person in the shot to let us know that this s...

Re: What if No One Plays It
Building upon what was already said, making yourself active on this and other forums can be a great way to self promote. Remember that it's not just your project that people care about; it's also you, the developer. Consider how often people purchase music from their favorite artists to support them...

Eliminating all forms of "to be": Active Voice
I read that avoiding is, are, has, had, etc , or constraining the appearance of "to be", establishes a stronger active voice in narration. With a personal attempt at this, I found myself searching tirelessly for ways to reword a good portion of the things I've written. Usually by checking ...

Re: Ladies, about the lack of "hentai" scenes with fem prtgn
I wouldn't mind seeing more female-oriented 18+ content in VNs. Scribbles mentioned the popularity of romance novels...I don't necessarily think it's because women prefer imagining it. Written novels seem to be more readily available than OELVNs with such content, so perhaps it's not entirely a matt...

Re: What do you think about pixel art for vn?
Personally, I am a fan of pixel art and could see myself playing a story based game using that style. My question is whether or not you intend to still use character portraits. There are quite a few RPGs that have tiny sprites for the characters and a "visual novel" mode to deliver the sto...
