Re: Is Lemmesoft Dying
I believe the traffic in certain subforums of lemmasoft started to decrease when the discord channel was introduced but I don't know if that's the real reason. I've never visited the discord channel so I can't tell if all the artists and writers disappeared to that place (for those new here : we use...

Re: High Level Game Design- Separating Characterisation from Plot
Interesting. The combinatorial explosion is, of course, always limited by the number of story endings. This means it's pretty much a given that several routes lead to the same ending. Keeping such routes a rewarding experience despite leading to the same result can be a bit challenging. Perhaps ther...

Re: Writers, are you also "sponges"?
I guess it's unavoidable to be influenced by what you read (or see, or hear). It can work to your advantage. For my Slushball Slasher I read a lot of Sherlock Holmes (actually I listened to it, all of the Holmes' stories are available as audio books on youtube). Can't hurt to diversify though. Steph...

Re: Mall Macabre [Creepy][Liminal]
A little update about "Mall Macabre"... https://www.fusebloware.com/Pics/MallMacabre/MalMacSplash.jpg I've decided NOT to use Renpy for this visual novel. I wanted to sharpen my non-existent web programming skills so the whole thing is now an unholy mess of JavaScript, HTML and CSS. I've c...

Mall Macabre [Creepy][Liminal]
A couple of years older than she was in The Slushball Slasher but still much younger than she will be in The Doomed Diner, Tina Giallo returns in Mall Macabre! This time Tina teams up with her school friend Amy and school bully Becky (the same one as in The Slushball Slasher). Becky dares Tina and A...

Re: How important is music in a visual novel?
I don't think music is essential but I do think it's expected , which is about just as important :) Sure, there isn't music in books and comics, it's impossible. But those media find different ways to accentuate actions, situations and emotions (after all : that's what the music is for in VNs but al...

Re: Replies, Views, Downloads...[Q?]
If you hover the mouse over the image then it shows the view count for that image and it should be the same as the download count as reported in the user control panel. The view count of the image is not necessarily the same as the view count of the post itself in which the attachment is placed. I t...

Re: Why a visual novel?
To me, it's the "visual" part of visual novels that attracts me. Visual novels gives me the opportunity to use my watercolors as graphics. As for stories that fit VNs best : I think that stories that are primarily told by dialogue are better suited than stories that are action orientated o...

Re: Tips on leading a VN project?
I think the single most important thing is the following : Make sure that you exactly know what you need for your project before handing out jobs and communicate these things clearly. There's nothing worse than working on a project which constantly changes its direction and requirements because the ...

Re: I need some help for this school life settings novel pleasee
To begin with : I'd like to know the genre of the VN. Is it a romantic story? Is it a mystery? A horror story? Slice of life? A site like itch.io has thousands of visual novels. People search for games tagged with a genre. Some people check out new horror VNs, others search for detective VNs, etc. I...

Re: As a Solo Dev, What is your workflow? [conversation]
I don't know if I should attach "flow" to my "work". It's either a raging river or placid lake Stillborn  I always start with the drawings (all watercolors) which are guided by the general idea of what the visual novel should be about like "80s horror movie tribute"...

Re: Developing characters
I think the process is different for everyone. For me it's the drawings. I have a vague notion of what I want and start drawing. Ideas form while drawing the characters and situations they find themselves in. It's all quite organic. The story itself comes from ideas I get from the drawings (this is ...

Re: Inaccurate TintMatrix colors
I'll hazard a guess : alpha value issue? If the colors are accurate but are darker than they should be then it could be that the alpha is not 1.0 (or 255, whatever is used) and is mixed with a dark color behind that color.

Just a little update. The Slushball Slasher is now also playable in the browser (RenPy 8.1) right here.
Everything seems to be working normally. I guess that means I don't have to learn JavaScript after all
Watch this space. Tina will return soon in a new adventure.

Re: Your general opinion about Photo Sketch software?
There's nothing wrong with using photos as backgrounds and using filters for artistic effect. Of course, there's always the issue of copyrights. The makers of the famous Higurashi visual novel used filtered photos as backgrounds (the original version, remakes used drawn backgrounds). Higurashi.jpg D...
