Re: Cat & Cavy [Nano18][Crime][Furry][Petploitation]

Thanks Arachni! I guess I'd better show a bit of progress too. The sprites are taking a lot of time. I'm pretty confident I won't finish before the end of March (what else is new?). Here's a bit of Caitlin and the process of how she's drawn : http://www.fusebloware.com/Pics/Catcavy/Process.jpg For t...

Re: Story maps / boards

I do it by hand too. I doodle on my animation disc, working from drawings I get ideas for the story. The disc is handy because I can draw anywhere, it sits nicely in my lap and it turns effortlessly (unlike sketch books or the Cintiq). Of course, I end up with heaps of 12 fields but they come in pac...

Cat & Cavy [Nano18][Crime][Furry][Petploitation]

He's a wuss, she's a puss. Get ready for the petploitation sensation of 1972! http://www.fusebloware.com/Pics/Catcavy/Catcavy.jpg Detective Ido of homicide has lost his partner to a crazy axe-wielding turtle. His chief has chosen one of those crazy cats of the highway patrol as his new partner. Ido...

Re: Tenkeiteki Tokyo [parody]

Thanks! Tenkeiteki needs to wait till after NaNoReNo though. As long as I finish it before the Summer Olympics of 2020, I'll be happy (the Olympics play a part in the story). Amazingly, Tenkeiteki started off as a 2 month project. At the time I didn't realize that it wouldn't be the first two months...

Re: Post your music

I'm just starting out composing music and I'm really interested in making music for visual novels. I just don't know where to start. I'd like peoples opinions on what I've written so far. I feel like I'm not getting constructive criticism from my friends. https://soundcloud.com/user-249701118 DISCL...

Re: What are the most minute details of a Visual novel you can think of?

I would definitely like seeing a couple of frames of animation to go from pose to pose. It's something that sets a visual novel apart from the bulk when done right. Actually, at the very least there should be different poses for different expressions. Too often only the face changes while the body s...

So uh... it's almost that time of the year guys... you know... NaNoRenO 2018 Visual Novel Game Jam... just a reminder... "POOF" (Disappears) Oh... that one, yeah. I guess I could have another crack at "The Doomed Diner". After all, my main project "Tenkeiteki Toky...

Re: Sasquatchii's Art Thread (Critiques & Constructive Criticism Requested) [NSFW]

Hi Sasquatchii, if you're shading your work then you'd want to use at least 3 shades. With 2 shades you can only model in the light part of the face, with an extra dark you can also model the shadow part of the face. Practicing shading requires good references (sunny photos). Look for the 5 major sh...

Re: Nerupuff's Art Improvement Thread (critique appreciated)

Hi, if you want to practice then make lots of "5 minute sketches". Of course, such sketches will be simple line drawings and not fully colored ones. Concentrate on postures and don't use a mannekin for that but real life references. One thing I used to do was pop in some 50s musical movie,...

Re: Kinetic Novels - Long, or Short?

I'm perfectly fine with long kinetic visual novels. Higurashi was quite long (especially the first installment) and I found it to be quite gripping. I didn't miss the branching at all. I even feel that choices might break the immersion in thriller/horror stories like Higurashi.

Re: How to Write Good Choices: A Guide

That's a nice guide about choices. There's one category of choice I didn't see though and which has given me a bit of thought lately : choices that add or remove choices in subsequent "choice nodes"/forks. A simple example would be something that has to do with an inventory. If the player ...

Re: What music to listen to while drawing?

I don't listen to anything while drawing anything that takes some sort of mental effort (these are the pencil sketches). It's like Richard Williams said : "Unplug!". But for the stuff that doesn't take any effort it's a different story. Currently, for tracing my drawings and coloring (whic...
