Re: How do you schedule things out?
Make features list instead tasks list. Group features, starting with MVP, then add all the rest. Sort them by: most important on top Then do the most important items first in iterative cycle in between these from MVP. After MVP is done, You can just go down the list until You run out of time/money. ...

Try Solstice it has well developed and diverse character cast.
I'd also suggest Danganronpa series and 999.

Re: [UE4] Visual Novel Framework for Unreal Engine 4
Thank You for quick answer :) You made me make one step closer to buy Your framework soon. 2dPaperSprites are quite problematic in UE4, this is why I am looking to switch for skeletons and 3d meshed models. If anything I'd have to think on dropping Your sprites oriented framework entirely and redo t...

Sort of. You aren't doing animations, so just cut out parts that You need.
For animating character it depends on what kind of animations do You want. Is it going to be frame animation, blends or skeleton based.
For face I'd go with simple expressions of mouth, eyes etc. as frames.

Also be sure what You are getting Yourself into with crowdfunding. It takes time, investment in $ and stress, especially if You may experience bumps in the road. I'd be carefull with KS budgeting though. Theres quite some investment in running succesfull KS, making rewards and fullfilling goals + games often are waaay delayed after being funded.

Re: Funding for paid game
Sure, point in most KS campaigns is to actually make a game. Then It's up to developer what to do with the product. Kickstarter nowadays works more often like marketing tool than ever though. You can give "early access" to game for discounted price for Your backers. Who would like to buy a...

Re: Help with my first visual novel
I'd suggest to dig a little bit on how branching narrative is done and structured. Then try to research what goes into VN. Which core features You need to make game playable. Focus only on MVP - most viable product, meaning do only necessary stuff to make game run. Then add all the other stuff later...

Sarchalen got the point. I'd only add that to take additional research when developing on other platforms. Mobile is whole another story. Make BG wider horizontally as phones crop out stuff.

Re: What's the best sprite creation method for a beginner?
If You have different outfits, I'd go straight with cutout character parts. We use it most in casual games, also makes it easy to animate it later.
