Re: Why Are Dating Sims/VNs for the iOS so expensive?

http://digitalbattle.com/2012/01/31/letter-from-an-indie-pc-developer-regarding-piracy/ Sales were decent throughout the years, enough to support us and ensure that we could keep updating our games. Then our entire catalog of games was posted on The Pirate Bay and spread to other torrent sites. We d...

Re: Has anyone done a visual novel from a third-person POV?

http://www.kriscramer.com/2009/first-person-vs-third-person-point-of-view Honestly, readers won't care as long as it is written well or is really enjoyable. But one thing I particularly hate is when the writer abruptly switches between the two with the same character: it breaks immersion and makes t...

Re: Analogue: A Hate Story

Game is now on Steam! Woah, the 1st renpy game on Steam ever I believe  I played through it (finally earning 100% completion) and was surprised: Far darker storyline than I could have ever imagined. The things done the the Pale Bride...and a lot of other women were quite horrific. Dark and un...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...

I know you are completely right Camille. I think the thing is, the groups that I know can take criticism well are the groups I don't really have anything to criticize or critique. I'm an unabashed fan and I don't see any point in nitpicking VNs when I really enjoy and relate to them. I did critique ...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...

Ah  The thing is, I don't want to bring bad attention to any commercial group. If it is a commercial game, I know that bad word of mouth can really hurt the game and the livelihoods of the developers. I just won't risk something that would take possible money away from them. I happen to read a...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...

LateWhiteRabbit, you can read my mind, can't you? But seriously, I totally know what you mean about commercial/WIPs. Any group that does tons of WIP but doesn't publish a demo/final game after a while is one that I have to avoid, too many end up being totally abandoned. I've got to chime in th...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...

I have to say, Camille and LateWhiteRabbit pretty much summed up my thoughts on this topic perfectly. Dang, nice job guys. Also, I have yet to read a VN that made it big where I didn't think "Man...the creator(s) deserves all the acclaim they've received." Not just the quality of the art/s...

Re: Icebound [Dark Fantasy/Mystery] [Commercial]

Oh, dark fantasy? I'm interested already (and intrigued by the puzzle idea). Glad to see you're not shoehorning romance into the plot--there is nothing worse than a "romantic" story that has a forced/poor romance. Totally takes away from the VN and there are VNs that have a strong enough s...

Re: NaNoReNo 2012

Pretty funny blog, I actually agreed with 3/4 of the posts that I read on that blog for 3/4 of the vns. A bit blunt, but seemed fair to me. Nice to see some love for 2 visual novels that I thought were personally outstanding (NL/JK) and it is amazing the person read all the nano releases. Snarky, bu...

Re: Ristorante Amore [NaNoRenO 2012] +RPY files and v1.1

Just chiming in that I'm glad jayisgames got it right (imo) about this visual novel. I found it charming :). The art is great as always and the writing is a strength--so props to you guys both. It was enjoyable and a clever take on a topic that definitely needed a fresh breath of air. So, great job ...

Re: Do you play as same or opposite gender?

I have always preferred BxG VNs over GxB, so I usually like reading through the male character. But immersion for me is completely separate from VNs, I usually see it as being a case where I enjoy the stories more in BxG VNs (so far). That's been the case for quite a few years, so I can't really ima...

Re: [dischan] Juniper's Knot (2012)

Quite good work, very intriguing and original story that pulled me in from the start. I was surprised by the twists and turns of this storyline and enjoyed the experience tremendously. I'm very impressed that you guys did this and a work of this caliber makes me even more excited for Cradle Song. Ve...

Re: MARIJUANA - The Truth [NaNoRenO 2012 Entry]

Hmm...I am a bit ambivalent about this kinetic novel. Reading through it, as well as your reasons for making it, allowed me to understand why you wanted to take a very simplistic mode of narrative. However, I feel like this was meant only for the kids who see the typical "ALL DRUGS ARE EVIL&quo...

Re: Bionic Heart 2 - prototype

Ah, that's good. I actually like reading from multiple PoVs when it is written well (like Juniper's Knot, where it was consistently 1st person, but smoothly transitioned over between each character). So if the style is more consistent, I'm definitely more interested.
