Likewise, Linux itself is an interpretor, cause it interprets python which in turn interprets renpy which calls linux to interpret another python program which interprets .rpy files (something like that). Linux is GPL'd and its license does not infect its data, which is python and all its subprocess...

I do agree in that .rpy files could be program files but I think in our case, they would be considered data b/c I think that ren'py and .rpy files have the interpretor/data relationship. I would think this because the purpose of ren'py is that it is a "visual novel engine" and not a "...

I definately not a lawyer, but here is how I understand fonts licensed under the GPL. Much like Haeleth says, we need to distinguish between what is code and data. To my understanding, GPL is a copyright licence in which one uses it to control distribution and copying of "programs". I don'...

Coding the application shouldn't be too difficult, but creating an intuative interface would.

IMO, Linux users are used to downloading a kajillion of dependancies. I think what you should do for Linux users is make them install rpm or deb package for the ren'py modules. In the case of deb distributions, one would just have to add your website to the /etc/apt/sources.list, and then do somethi...

*crosses fingers* GUI, GUI, GUI... Solution: Macromedia Flash. I think if we could program a striped down version of Flash tailored to VN games, that'd be neat. It could use ren'py as the main engine, ie. generates renpy code. I'd expect that be quite difficult to do (or atleast get correct in desi...

WinAMP plays ogg files. You may have to download a plugin if you didn't download the full bundle though.

It would be quite tedious to type up XML by notepad or whatever, it would definatly make sense if there was a GUI interface that goes with it. This engine does has some promise, but right now it seems to be in early development stages so I can't really judge on it. Only advatage I see so far is the ...

I guess bilinear interpolation would help out in handheld platforms where the screen is small and as a result the graphics have to be scaled down. But for those situation it may be just better to pre-scale/redo the actual graphics. I like the new features list for 5.6.0. Mini-game sounds awesome, th...
