Re: A "Message"?

Spoilers if you haven't played it, but in Myst III: Exile, the protagonist is left with an option at the end regarding the main villain. He'd been separated from his family and village, believing them to be dead. The player has two options that won't get him/her killed. The first is to let the prota...

Re: Male voice actor wanted (unpaid) (light BxB in the game)

Do you have any audition lines you'd like read, would you like applicants to just submit random sentences, or do you want demo reels?

Re: How many characters in a vn?

It's all about the story. The temptation is to let the story be curtailed by other problems, but that does a disservice to the story itself. Your game should have as many characters as the story needs to tell...um...itself.

Re: Completed games increasing?

Slightly off topic, but I have to say I enjoy the concept of referring to PyTom as "The Creator."

Praise be unto The Creator, for He is Ren'Py, and Ren'Py is Him.

Re: Websites

I did what SundownKid mentioned. I pay $50/year through Dreamhost to host the site and keep the domain name, and I installed Wordpress to build the site. Never looked back.

Re: Lemma is in Austin :)

No offense taken. Texas is just the Gerrymandering State.

Lemma, I would love to have breakfast with you if Austin wasn't so far from Houston. Also...you meant 30 minutes ago, if I'm reading that right, so yeah.

Re: Loading up Renpy VS Typing up a document

I've always typed it up in jEdit directly in Ren'Py code because I don't like taking the extra step. But after working with MS Word for as many years as I have, I've developed the odd habit of hitting CTRL+S every minute or so, roughly every three-to-five lines of code I put in.

Re: Lemma is in Austin :)

Austin isn't much of a "Howdy" city. Dallas isn't really, either. That's more of an El Paso/San Antonio/occasionally Houston thing. And the HUGE GAPS between these cities as well.

Re: Myst, Riven, and Obduction

I definitely see your point on all of this, though I do need to say something here: I get that they were security systems, but that breaks down in the fiction. (Too me anyway - you seem much better versed in it.) Why have an entire building devoted to arranging constellations to match dates to match...

Re: Myst, Riven, and Obduction

Monkey Island's new game ended in relative failure? I thought it was a big hit for Telltale Games, and it was certainly well reviewed. I keep seeing bad reviews for it myself, not to mention the original creators who worked on MI 1-2 not liking the continuity. Of course, that could just be the revi...

Myst, Riven, and Obduction

My very first video game love was Myst. For those of you who never played (or perhaps are too young to remember), Myst was a game that turned video gaming on its ear for a while. With no instructions, no HUD, and no explanations, players were dropped into an artwork-laden interactive slideshow, and ...

Either voice a full-line, accurately, or not at all is my position.
Not to be contrary, but if this is your position, how are you a fan of partial voice-acting?

I just want to say that working with Card-Queen has been a pleasure. After her completion of several CGs for my project, I can say that she is quick, produces high-quality work, and is very easy to work with. I keep going back to her!

Re: A crowdfunding campaign gone wrong...

Jeez. This is kinda heartbreaking to read. All I can do is reinforce what someone already said; look into the legal status of these comments and attacks. I don't know how it is where you are, but I think most countries consider libel illegal.

Re: Name for a layouter

I've always referred to someone who does layout as a Layout Editor, but I have a journalism background, and that's what we call them there. Someone who edits the text to ensure that it's readable and makes good sense is a Copy Editor. "Layouter" isn't really a title (or a word).
