Re: BL game without smut
I don’t care about whether or not there’s smut, and I don’t think I’m a particularly unusual BL fan. As long as the writing and/or art is good, I think people will play it. There are plenty of popular otome games with no adult content at all, and the audience there isn’t so different from the BL aud...

Re: Diversity in Visual Novels
To add to the above, for any future surveys you might create, you’d be better off splitting the question about gender identity into two - one with gender, and the other with trans status (including ‘prefer not to answer’ and ‘questioning’ options). You’ll find that many trans men and women don’t nec...

Re: Selidor’s Sketchbook
Here’s a shaded, cleaned-up version of the girl I posted previously. The next step will be other expressions, and maybe another pose.

Here’s the finished street background, which is available to downloads in my Creative Commons thread: FB5D7DC6-1F0D-4321-A44B-FA1FEC72AFF3.jpeg I’m currently working on a beach background, in a more conventional anime/visual novel shading style, which will also be made available for download when I’...

Re: Do the backgrounds seriously need a crowd of people in it?
If you think you can get away without drawing any crowds, then don’t draw them. The ambience they’ll add isn’t worth the huge amount of effort you’ll have to put in, and chances are it will just distract the reader from the speaking characters anyway. Even the highest quality Japanese visual novels ...

Re: Selidor’s Sketchbook
Here’s a further developed, cleaner version of the design. Still some work left to go, but she’s getting there.
And here’s a rough sketch of a background I’m working on.

Re: Selidor’s Sketchbook
The middle one is the cutest! The right gives off the quirkiest personality and the left the most avant garde. Overall I like the middle one the most too, but it was a close tie with the right one. I wonder if seeing them individually would have affected my opinion though, because when I’m looking ...

Selidor’s Sketchbook
I thought I’d start a thread to post WIP and sketches, and other pieces not suitable for my game or portfolio threads. Feel free to offer critique or other feedback. Re: How does publishing work?
The vast majority of English-language VNs are released independently by the dev team. It’s a niche type of game that doesn’t command a lot of mainstream attention (and by association, money). Publishers like Sekai Project and Mangagamer who mostly release localised Japanese visual novels will someti...
