Wedding Vows - a Kinetic Short Story Anthology
Hello! I've finally finished the Wedding Vows project, close to exactly 3 years after I first started it! Category: Kinetic Novel Estimated Playtime: 25 minutes Relationships: BxG and GxB (It's balanced equally between both points of view) Ren'Ai Archives: Yes, please! All copyright permissions have...

Re: What annoys you in visual novels?
Heaven and Hell....an angel and a demon... -Dizzy- These are actually both covered in Animamundi: Dark Alchemist. Just thought I'd throw that out there...XP Oh, really? Haven't seen that yet. Hmmm... ah well, no problem. Scratch that off the list, and there's still plenty of other settings to explo...

Re: What annoys you in visual novels?
As for other settings...it would be nice to have a VN that centers around a journey of some sort. Or if it needs to be centered around only a couple settings, have a greater variety of bgs, to make it feel a bit more fresh. Also, VNs in a fantastical or sci-fi-esque setting get brownie points just ...

Re: What annoys you in visual novels?
Oh, on another note... this is not really an annoyance, but rather more of a wish. I would really like to see protagonists in a love story who do NOT belong to the "single, unattached" category. Anything else. They could be: - Widowed - Divorced - Separated - Engaged / seriously-committed ...

Re: What annoys you in visual novels?
But is there anything that the structure of a VN is particularly prone to that annoys you? For example in interactive fiction, locations and physical objects are fairly straightforward to implement, but living characters are much, much harder. Consequently so many IF games have been designed to tak...

Re: How to write froma third-person perspective?
Third-person perspective doesn't necessarily mean you know everything that happens. That's an Omniscient Narrator technique... and it's usually pretty boring (produces documentary-like stories). Most of the good stories written from third-person still center themselves around one character... you on...

Re: Relationship Webs and Characters in VN
Wow, thanks for the comments! It does seem like quite a number of projects are all slowly heading in this direction, so hopefully we will be able to achieve it one day. ^^ Um... dstarsboy, your example with Sally is not exactly what I was picturing. What you were doing was basically showing the outw...

Relationship Webs and Characters in VN
Preliminary note: This is a post meant to provide insights and provoke thought about the character creation process, by outlining a different approach to the problem. It's also fairly image-heavy. Start with this maxim: "Every character is best defined not by what he or she does, but by their r...

Re: BTW: The EVN Community Ezine #2
Overall, this edition seems to be better. Random comments on each article: I don't really see the point of the editorial. Um... is it supposed to convince me that the approaches to storytelling are important? Is it trying to introduce the subject of different storytelling approaches? Is it summarisi...

Re: Some questions about creative commons and some about Ren'Py
I was unsure too, so I took a deeper look at the legal code on the CC website. This is how they define "adaptation": "Adaptation" means a work based upon the Work, or upon the Work and other pre-existing works, such as a translation, adaptation, derivative work, arrangement of mu...

Re: Some questions about creative commons and some about Ren'Py
1. First off, I plan on using music from jamendo in my visual novel. There were times when I considered not using any music, but I think that would be rather boring since it's a longer story. I'm a bit unsure about this part: Share Alike. If you alter, transform, or build upon this work, you may di...

Re: WIPs with huge lists of character details
I guess that might work for artists, since images are always attention-grabbing and generate interest, but what about pure writers? It seems that choices are either: 1) Character sheets/profiles (which, I agree, are pretty boring to read) 2) Premise/blurb (which works well for an opening post, but w...

Re: Ideas Dump
Matchmaking Idol You play the school's very popular, very beautiful idol, with tons of fans but a temper (think Chidori Kaname of FMP). Recently, a group of guys have been pursuing you for dates, and they're all weird or unsuitable in some way or another (brainless-athlete, closet-otaku, vain-Prince...

Don't have time for detailed comments like before, so just quick playtest reports on the new build (0.5.13): Interface - Nice work with the instructions screen, putting it on the blackboard. Looks like you took the text directly from Heileen, but it works. Instructions screen before the map appears ...
