Re: [WIP] (P)lanets -GxB
Good luck making your visual novel. The guys don't look like complete clones, especially with the three of them having distinct enough personalities from one another, so I wouldn't worry too much about them looking a bit alike. I like the concept of a psychic academy, too. Sounds like it could be fu...

Re: Overall difficulty of VNs
Can anyone who writes branching stories extensively give me some good hints? I haven't actually finished any branching visual novels myself, so maybe take my suggestion with a grain of salt. :P Try setting up a diagram to keep track of everything. Organization is key, as you've already figured out....

Re: episodic visual novels
In that case, I wouldn't mind a series of episodes like that. The fact that they were episodes wouldn't have much of a bearing on whether or not I'd like it - that would purely come down to the stories themselves. Will it be a kinetic (choiceless) series? If not, will choices during certain episodes...

Re: Getting started: the roadmap to creating a first VN
Yeah, it's good that you're taking things one step at a time instead of starting with some overly ambitious leap that'll land your project into a black hole. Are you going to let us in on every detail of your project at every step as you go along? It's always nice to see how others go through the ga...

Re: Time factor
Yeah, anyone could make a two hour game within a month, but why put that much pressure on the creative process? Something might have to suffer in quality to meet the one month deadline - free time and maybe the art or writing, depending on your focus. It's definitely a possible feat...but it all com...

Re: Limit to length of gameplay? How long is too long?
Yeah, it could possibly live, as long as the story doesn't get bogged down with a million details right up front. If you're worried about people being bored during the parts where you don't level, then maybe try weaving the VN elements where you want to reveal the initial storyline and characters in...

Re: Chain Letters (another Horror/Suspense VN)
Good luck making your visual novel. As a horror fan, I'm looking forward to how this one turns out... It's an interesting concept, but I wonder if it would be possible for anyone to escape the chain letters just by turning off their computer? Probably not. That could be a freaky scene - trying despe...

Re: Digging Deep (BL) VN Project
I like your art style. So adorable! And it looks like you've even got a good start to the story, too. Just watch out for some grammar mistakes, sorry if I sound rude...I'll let your editor point out the specifics to you. But, what had me wondering was Derris's Postpartum depression . Did you mean so...

Names and Titles
Sorry if this is a repeat topic. One of the hardest things for me to do is coming up with names and titles. Whenever I'm designing characters, it usually takes a long time for a character like "Annoying Girl," for example, to have an actual name like Jo. I guess it's because I put a lot of...

Re: Hetero or homo?
Haven't really read through the thread, but my answer: it depends. I can't pick one over the other and I can't say I really prefer one type to the other, either. As long as the story is good and realistic (or at least believable) and the characters themselves aren't annoying or obnoxious without bei...

Hey. Longtime lurker finally signing up to the site. I'm a writer who discovered her love of writing through roleplaying on forums and such. I'm using visual novels to help advance my skills while (hopefully) having some fun along the way. Err...yeah, in addition to writing, I love dramatic stories,...
