Re: How do you solve this math problem?...
I can't help but think this is a troll. Unless Mugenjohncel was making incredibly detailed artwork and coding up games in elementary school, I find it hard to believe that he is now asking such a question. The fact that so many people answered seriously is baffling. :P (DISCLAIMER: I suppose my perc...

Re: Signature Length
Now we have to point out that people's avatars and info are too long I'm looking at you Snowflower and Lumen! Short sigs don't help when there's all that whitespace.
EDIT: Just harassin', I'm not actually bothered.

Re: Gaming habits, do you guys have one???
I've never played an otome game, but that's more because I've never come across one that was interesting to me rather than I'm not interested in the genre. I tend to like reverse harems and shoujo manga/anime and all that jazz. -I always go to 100% completion. A story that doesn't require all routes...

Re: Posting a visual novel
Um, to be clear... you can do anything you want with YOUR games. If it's someone else's IP, don't go spreading it around. I just had a hunch there might be some miscommunication here.

Re: What is the difference between GxB and BxG game?
I wasn't classifying anyone's games as "true BxG" or "true GxB", I was just saying that if the best genre description you can come up with is "pick up or be picked up by a 2D character", then your game lacks plot. For example, I wouldn't call "RockRobin" GxB s...

Re: What is the difference between GxB and BxG game?
I'm surprised we haven't had any of the usual "BxG have better stories" bunk in this thread... props to everyone. Fact of the matter is, as has been said here by others, classifying a game as otome/GxB/BxG/YxZ/etc implies it's about romancing someone rather than any true plot. As such, the...

Re: A poll to girl gamers
I don't believe I'm answering this... T.T Gender: o Male Do you also play Boy x Girl games? o Yes Style: o Visual Novel (preferred) Genre: o Either, if it's interesting enough. If BL, playable character should be: o Uke (“Submissive” character, gets romanced) I think being hard-gay (seme) would be i...

Re: Japanese or English names?
You could just do both and appease everyone, provided you give the appropriate reason. Two of my main characters are Japanese-American, while the others are your typical black and white folks.

Re: Can you live from indie VN?
What turned me off was the 4chan feel. Earthbound was a quirky RPG parody with pot-smoking hippie enemies, and it was fantastic. Mark Leung had those same enemies but just came off as immature.
In other news, this thread makes me very glad to have an engineering degree. No offense to anyone.

Reference pondris' edit: I agree. Then you should have posted a link to Chris Crocker's famous video! http://th80.photobucket.com/albums/j164/chippered/th_leave-britney-alone-guy.jpg (While I do think we should leave alone someone who wants to be left alone, it is a little silly to backlash so stro...

Re: Crime Investigation
There's only one thing I can add to this: all the technical writing courses I've fumbled through (read: aced) and publications I've written during my time as an engineer amounted to diddly-squat when I sat down and tried to write a game script. Tragic, really. My time spent editing fan translations ...

Re: Plot bunnies
@Blue Lemma: look at your "strong" definition. I believe there is no way of knowing for sure about God, but if the theists can place their bets on the existence of God, I can place my bets against (I don't have a choice, really, since I can't stomach creationism or a few other theistic con...

Re: Plot bunnies
For the record (don't hate me) I'm an agnostic atheist... so the idea wasn't going to be about the Christian(/Jewish/Muslim/Rastafarian) aspect as it was the epic story aspect. I think I'm incapable of writing anything with a spiritual--well, spirit--because I just don't think like that. As an aside...

Re: Share your attitude/characterisitic :)
I got 42 in "Trust in Others," and that doesn't surprise me. I get the feeling we've had vastly different life experiences. ^_- The only reason I had a high "Trust in Others" score is because I rejected what I saw as paranoid responses. Along with the high "Masculinity"...

Re: Share your attitude/characterisitic :)
I had to take the test since everyone else did. "Independent Thinker" ... is that a joke? Of note I scored 92nd percentile on "Trust in Others" and 90th percentile in "Masculinity". Leaving the latter alone (unexpected, to say the least), do people really all say "...
