Well, that makes things a lot easier. ^_^ I was trying to interpret something I read in an older version of the reference manual, and I guess I totally misunderstood it. Doing it right in the main script file is easier... and I won't forget to make the change when I move everything over from 5.4.4 t...

Carrying on a conversation with yourself AND hearing voices where None is talking? Oh, my, Monele... should I send the van with the men in white coats right away? ^_^

On a slightly different note, but along a similar line of reasoning, if I want to add a menu item by editing mainmenu.rpy's library.main_menu command, so that the new menu item jumps to a section of code (a page of credits, for instance), in which file do I put the label specified in the ui.jumps li...

Ooh! In-line graphics. ^_^ I'd read about how to do them and thought, "Hey, that's kind of neat"... but I never saw them in action. You make 'em look good! (Hopefully they'll be used sparingly, though... if you use them in the game like a 12-year-old uses emoticons in an e-mail, they won't...

Fair enough... and thanks for the insight. I'm certainly not being critical; I just hadn't really thought of the GBA as a suitable platform for anything involving much text. (Isn't the resolution something like 240x160?) I hadn't made the logical jump from GBA to cell phones or PDA-type devices -- s...

So is this mostly an exercise in "Let's see if this can be done", or do you intend it for actual use by game developers? And if it's the latter, is it being created specifically for use with emulators, or do you envision games somehow ending up on cartridges for use with actual hardware? (...

Yeah, how is everyone else doing with their NaNoRenO project? They can't all have dropped from the face of the earth! ;) I think I'm actually working harder on Ashes to the Wind now than I did in March! >,< I think by the end of this evening, I'll be able to call AttW 80% complete. It's missing mos...

Meh... they're very similar, but not the same. ^_^ [typographic-geek mode] For example, the diagonals of Vera's lowercase k meet the vertical at a point, while Verdana has the lower diagonal merging squarely with the upper diagonal, which in turn merges with the vertical. And in letters where a curv...

I wouldn't be so bold as to try to define what a ren'ai game is on my own ^_^ but I'll point you toward a couple of great resources to answer your question. Perhaps the best starting point would be the "about" page at Ren'ai Games , a site run by one of the forum members here. Once you abs...

In reverse order: * "They don't just put it as jankenpon" because yakyūken and janken are different concepts; yakyūken is the strip version of janken. Yakyūken is a specific word describing the strip version of janken, and since it has its own word, it doesn't need to be called "sutor...

Blue Lemma, I couldn't resist. I tried Googling for "yakyuken.swf", and that was the second thing that came up. (The first one was a 404.) I didn't catch the play on words (なす = NASU = eggplant, ナース = NAASU = nurse) until after I'd played and looked back at the URL to cut and paste it.

Shamelessly stolen key-press detect routine breaks rollback…

I'm working on my ex-NaNoRenO game, Ashes to the Wind, which begins with a prologue that's non-interactive (other than a spot near the beginning where you enter the protagonist's name) and takes 10-15 minutes to read. Even in skip mode, it takes 20 seconds to skip through to the first menu. So at so...
