I watch them for cuteness: Sakura Trick (first few eps), Hidamari Sketch (going to watch) and Jewelpet Happiness (half way)
Jewelpet is for children but the good thing is that it has no fanservice nor stereotypes known to otakus.

Re: Do you play as same or opposite gender?
In Mass Effect and Pokemon, I always chose male, but I have played games with female MC, like Harvest Moon Friends Mineral of Town.
I also played some GxB otome games with female MC.

Re: Ideas Dump
My idea is not a story, but a formula. The formula can be plugged into science fiction, fantasy and historical. It addresses a problem of most space opera and high fantasy stories where epic battles are fought: They tend to focus on the military lifestyle and they don't reveal much about an average ...

Re: Breaking the fourth wall?
I can only think of breaking the fourth wall in comedic, non-serious contexts. However, there is a trope called Leaning on the Fourth Wall: The characters are talking something making sense perfectly in in-universe context, but the reader can interpret it as breaking the 4th wall. Common examples of...

Re: Opinion on 3D Backgrounds
3D backgrounds suffers two extremes. The first extreme is too unrealistic and looks highly unprofessional. Your background falls into this zone, but is somewhat better than that. Here is an example: http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/mario64works.JPG It's not unprofessional, just with outdated technology. ...

Worst Writing Advices?
What are some of the bad writing advices you received or overheard? They might be controversial (work for some people but not others), or often-misinterpreted advices, like "Write what you know".

Re: Tips to Overcome a Writer's Block
If "Write." is a cliched and undirected advice:
Write another part. If you are having trouble with the emotional scene in 6/10 way between, work on the another unrelated scene.
Or, write something imperfect in place of the block, knowing you will change it after you found a good idea.

Re: Line Between "Informative" and "Preaching"
My concern is that if I remove the "preachy" (telling -> showing) part, then there is no information at all, so I need to somehow find a middle ground. A parallel problem in hard science fiction are science infodumps. I think scientific accuracy + detail should be a source of interesting f...

Re: Developing linguistic skills
I'm a combination of English as a second language (got 3 only in AP English), computer science (major) and linguistics (learning it outside of class), so I have only ROYGBIV-BGW as my color vocabulary, and I use "if and only if"s, and I perceive negatively of irregularities in language. On...

Re: Does anyone have an opinion on Oxford (serial) commas?
What I hate about English is that there are controversies in grammar, and the lack of language regulator (because English is spoken in many countries). MLA is the closest to a language regulator. Side question: Are there any other languages with as much controversy in grammar as English? Give me a l...

Re: How do you deal with depression and art block?
When I have an art block, I program. Programming never blocks, and if blocking happens, I'm doing something wrong and I should backtrack.
