I'm drawing on paper (b/w), then scanning and coloring. Earlier I'd used Pixia since I like its user interface, but it doesn't offer alpha channels. The black lines are scanned and thus not drawn with GIMP, so I'd probably have to redraw them? Or can you actually select the area around the character...

Alpha channel and transparency of character graphics

I've gotten to the stage of dealing with the graphics now... and up comes the question: How are those of you involved with graphics handling the transparent parts of a character? Do you just have transparency outside the hard edges of the drawing (resulting in a pixellated outline), or are you using...

Wow, Ren'Py sure develops fast...

Why don't you just join the marketing craze and call it Ren'Py2005 or Ren'PyXP... or Ren'PyCedar (TM)?

Just kidding. I'd go with 5.0 as well, having always liked logical numbering. But feel free to ignore my view. It's not a big issue IMHO.

I wouldn't actually mind a player skipping episodes. I kind of see it like an Anime series with rather static episodes in the middle. Basically, having story development in the 1st and last third of the story, with the middle just adding to the atmosphere, which thus could be played in any order. Th...

No, honestly, it's great! Thanks, Tom! That's it, no more wishes now. Back to writing my game.

My goodness, you're so fast, Tom... you're releasing versions faster than I can unzip them! :)))) Thanks for renpy.exists() in 4.5, that would have been my next request. This will make distribution easier - I'm thinking of a bare-bone version of a game for people with slow internet connection, and a...

Hi Tom, Really like it so far! But, lucky as I am, the first time around I hit something that might be a bug. Don't want to hand out spoilers, so suffice that I say when I reach the point of saying "I do.", the game stops. It doesn't hang or anything, and rolling back is possible, saving i...

Thanks for the input! Mikey, I see the problem of getting all these episodes to match. Since it's definitely not a non-story this time, it probably makes sense to keep it in the hands of one author. And don't worry, Misato is yours, I'm more of a fan of Hitomi/Cat's Eye anyway... :) Sai, that's a go...

Game split into episodes - any thoughts?

Hello Renaiers, The game I am working on would lend itself to an episodical structure (not unlike single episodes of an Anime series): Apart from beginning, end, and some key episodes, this would leave a lot of room for additional story. This brought me to the intriguing idea of offering/asking othe...

There's also Stock.XCHNG (http://www.sxc.hu/index.phtml), has a wider selection than morgefile, IMHO. With some post-processing you can make those pictures look pretty good.

On second thought, I'm not so sure. You have to be really careful when using transitions, when windows aren't displayed. Agreed, I'll stick to the black box at the bottom, it's safer that way. A Letterboxed game, true, I didn't think of it that way. :) It's 800x400. For some reason, I feel more com...

Excellent, thanks a lot! For character art it was the most important issue, saves me the trouble of having to convert them should anything change. :) The backgrounds are not a problem - adding a black square to the bottom only takes one second with IrfanView, and the (compessed) PNG files are not an...

Positioning images (lower margin on screen)

Is there any easy way to not have images (backgrounds, characters) aligned with the bottom of the screen but rather with an arbitrary y-coordinate? The reason I'm asking is that I'm using the lower part of the screen exclusively for text. At the moment my workaround is to add a black square at the b...
