Re: Critique for this VERY SHORT story.
Your English is very good, although you did make some grammatical errors. For example, in English, you don't use "the" when referring to an object unless it is a specific object. Instead of "my face remained hot as the boiling water" you would just say "my face remained hot ...

Re: Do you feel cheated if choices do not affect the ending?
I'm intending for the game I'm working on to be at least a two parter too, so I understand where you're coming from. I think the way you're planning on doing it can definitely work, and that might be the best solution for the story you're telling. However, if you want to have multiple endings, there...

Re: Pop Culture References and an Idea for a Feature...
On the topic of explaining references to readers--I actually was planning on doing something like that. The VN I'm working on is set in 1922 and there some in-game references to some historical things that people may not know. Not jokes, but things about 1920s Chicago. I was really seriously consid...

Re: Pop Culture References and an Idea for a Feature...
You seem to have "references" and "pop culture references" confused. I don't think a reference to a classic book would be the same as, say, someone saying "The force be with you!" or "It's dangerous to go alone!" Pop culture = popular culture. Popular = a goo...

<lets out a little squeal, because someone finally commented on her project> Thanks! Fun is definitely what I'm going for. And thanks for the comment about the artwork not being bad for a solo project...I'm trying to push my limited artistic abilities as much as I can in the short amount of time tha...

Re: Pop Culture References and an Idea for a Feature...
Hmmm. Well, most of the references I find myself using are probably a little old to begin with. When I say "pop culture reference" I don't really mean topical humor (the way I see it, Jane Eyre = pop culture). I mean, you're right, "The cake is a lie" has been completely overused...

Pop Culture References and an Idea for a Feature...
I seem to be using a lot of pop culture references in my game...it's not like I'm going out of my way to make them, they just...um, happen. I think it's appropriate to the tone of the game (I'm going for an absurd comedy, and like Alice in Wonderland , most of the game takes place in a dream), but I...

I took a look at your original game. It will be interesting to see how it translates into a graphic format. Maybe you can show us some screenshots soon? I'd like to see it ^_^

It was because of character limitations ^_^;;ImmaDeker wrote:I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a reference to something, but the dissonance in grammar between your thread title and post is hilarious.

Re: Opinions on warning for cruel twist ending?
It's already been said, but generally I agree that breaking the fourth wall to warn the player about the ending is something that would be appropriate for comedy, but would probably be out of place elsewhere. However, I think it could be really intersting to imply that the ending is going to be depr...

R U an "indie game developer"? (grad student wants 2 know)
I keep forgetting to post this, but this is actually the question I wanted to ask creators/developers specifically, which I referred to in my other post in the general discussions forum, here: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=23459 Basically, the question is simple: As someo...

If you want to read more about this stuff, I'd advise you "The Art of Game Design - a Book of Lenses" by Jesse Schell (http://artofgamedesign.com/). I've read it ^_^ I wish I actually owned a copy to use as a reference, but as it is, I'd have to go borrow it from the library again...I mig...
