Re: Indie game pricing rambles

If you ask a doctor about cancer you'll get the same information as all those websites about cancer unless you're specific about your question. Simply asking what Higurashi is will make people say just google it, since your not asking anything in particualr about it. I'm no "domain expert"...

Re: Indie game pricing rambles

No arguments from me, I agree with you totally. That's exactly how people should price their products, by checking out the competition in both price and quality.

Although it may not take millions to make a good VN, it certainly helps. By provide better tools for developers to work their magic.

Re: Indie game pricing rambles

"An add to cart" or "Buy now" button means the product it relates to is being sold. Where as a "Preorder" button shows your game is not ready but will accept orders for it anyway but not their money. Your site was showing the "Buy now" button. I don't know any...

Re: Indie game pricing rambles

I think you're not quite understanding what is being argued here. Who the heck do you know is selling an OELVN for $50? You can't "say anything for anybody selling $50 EVNs outside Japan" because they don't exist. Although what you say is true now. Someone on this very forum did try to se...

Re: Indie game pricing rambles

You're right, I won't buy a game for $40 even one by a professional company if I thought it was crap. I don't need to see an awesome indie game to compare it with to come to that conclusion. I'd be very interested to see a super amazing indie VN. Maybe something like an amazing story line told in Ke...

Re: Indie game pricing rambles

In my opinion, EVN should be no more than $40. Why? Because its the price Jast USA and Peach Princess are selling their wares for. Those two of the oldest names in the EVN business (I could be wrong but they're really old). For my $40 (excluding postage & packaging, and also shipping) I'd be exp...

Re: Indie game pricing rambles

I still go to great lengths to avoid spending more than $20 on a single Japanese visual novel. I'm curious what sort of JVN sells for $20 or less when new. Only Planetarian and Higurashi comes to mind. Games being sold on DL Site comes to my mind but they are mostly doujins. However, some games mad...

Re: Indie game pricing rambles

Well said Wintermoon, your opinion represents your typical western consumer. From a consumer's point of view $50 is too much for a VN especially if its made by an indie. Heck $50 is a lot of money to begin with especially in poor countries (I'd gladly pay 50 Zimbabwean dollars for an indie game thou...

Re: Downloadable Games are Important

Papillon has carried the discussion on price to another thread, but I'll state my views here anyway. Perhaps I was a bit hasty when posting that remark. So allow me to clarify, $50 is too expensive for an indie visual novel. Sure, visual novels are a niche market but that doesn't mean you can flog i...

Re: Indie game pricing rambles

Well, definitions of indie vary. :) As I understand it the makers of that product are a *small* group of people who do military consulting and have been in the wargames business for a long time. They're not exactly some kids in a basement. But they're not being funded by big publishers to create ma...

Re: Indie game pricing rambles

Hmm, you're right they are. Ok, I admit my mistake and I'll retract my earlier statement regarding MangaGamer's prices. Interesting link, although I can't seem to access the buy link to see how much it costs right now. Their stuff appears top notch I never would have guessed they were an indie compa...

Re: Downloadable Games are Important

No, MangaGamer had titles for more as you say. However, consumer complaints quickly forced them to drop the price. With the exception of Kira Kira and Edelweiss bundle packs (since you're paying for two games), you won't find a single product on ManagaGamer for $50 and above. Even if they had kept p...

A minor gripe, not really essential or anything. Its the window icon in the top left corner. When going to fullscreen mode back to windows mode it disappears. I'd like the icon not to do that.

Nice to know you're still alive and the project is still going on. If I may point out, your character name box where the character name appears seem a bit too large to me. Or to be more precise, its the width that seems off since the size of the font is much smaller. Other than that, its looking goo...

@Kinou A(First question): Because I want more clients later, and because my current clients are on here, I need to defend myself lest they go to other services they deem better. A very real concern, which YOU yourself took pains to point out to me. Why do I care what people think: I don't really th...
