Re: Game character that infuriated you the most.

Rose in Metal Gear Solid II, don't really like her in MGS VI either. The other com-link supporters were 10x better then her. When I playing Raiden and got discovered, she calls in the middle and start to emotionally break down on me while I was dodging bullets. Seriously if I was Raiden I'll say. &q...

Re: Image location picker crashing

Don't think I have file like that. I did have my system locale set to Chinese simplified to play some games, did that somehow mess up the naming system that I can't see? Here's a file name list from developers menu Archive.rpa DejaVuSans-Oblique.ttf Picture.rpa basketball.ogg bell.ogg bg_talk.ogg bi...

Image location picker crashing

The "image location picker" fuction is crashing on me. Kind of weird because it works on Aleema's open source code tutorials, but when I try it on my VN the game crashes. Anyone able to tell me how to fix this? I don't know what any of these stuff mean. Thanks in advance I'm sorry, but an ...

Re: Hair Colours

I'm working on a male friend for the main character so should I be boring and stick to these colours or try out something new? Do it Final Fantasy XII way! All 6 main characters have blond/white hair! Seriously the Japanese youth are obsessed with light colored hair IMO. Ok, back to being serious. ...

Re: [Tutorial] Customizing Menus

Hey Aleema, thanks for helping us newbies again. I'll learn to put some image map in the VN. I was wondering if you know how to solve a problem I've had with the image location picker. This has been happening since I've started making the VN so I avoid using the tool until now (since I need them). W...

Re: Dealing with Writers (What works and what doesn't)

Ideally you want the outside writer to have the same qualities of a good employee. 1. Knows how to work in a group 2. Can work independently when needed 3. Willing to go the extra mile for the project You know, the same thing everybody puts on their resume. Most writers won't pass they're commission...

Re: [NaNoRenO WIP] The House that Bled Paint (beta)

Hello Susan just finished with the VN. Got two of the ending so far, but it should be enough to give you some feed backs. What I liked I do like this VN and feel you should know it, it really stands out and is refreshing change from the teenage love trouble VN's. The scary atmosphere is certainly yo...

Re: Dramatic cliches

Cliches are not necessary a bad thing, it can actually work in your favor if you do it right. Just look at the popular drama shows with lots of seasons. They have so many cliches to them and people spend hours being addicted to it! Cliches that seems to be forever in fashion are the supernatural kin...

Re: when you put music on ren py does it loop on its own unt

Hey glad you're interested in making a VN. A lot of these can be answered through the demo tutorial or just the reference manual when you put music on ren py does it loop on its own until you say stop? or is there a specific code for that? As you play a bgm can you also put sound fx while the bgm is...

Re: Any other good methods to reduce file size?

If you're hardcore enough to use JCC, you can cut a lot out of the common directory. For example, you can cut out the themes you aren't using, the .rpy files, 00developer.rpym, the layouts you're not using, and so on. Thanks PyTom, I didn't realize you could remove some of the data. Time to make a ...

I want to reduce the game file size as much as possible with minimum quality loss, currently I use. .ogg - as music files .png - as image files with JCC to reduce it into.jpg. Re: Click-to-continue

CTC icons? Aleema made a open source tutorial which you can see the code to make and add CTC. It's best to download it and see for yourself, you might pick up a extra thing or two. If you still don't get how to make a narrator CTC after looking at her codes I'll break it down for you below. init: im...

Re: Question on making dialog type across the screen.

I think I've learn enough to answer this one. There's many ways to make dialog type across screen. The easiest and probably what you're looking for is NVL mode , which you can modify it with different font, sizes, position, and have it across the screen. It's designed specifically for narration. ini...

Re: Writers block

That everlasting question, where do you find your muse? Everybody is different, but they usually try the following. 1. Take a break from it then come back. 2. Do something relaxing. 3. Look at other people's work and hope to get inspired. 4. Ask someone you trust for a 2nd opinion. 5. See something ...

Re: Coloring dissatisfaction! Help?

I'm not an artist so I can't draw well myself, but I'll give it a shot what seems off. Higher contrast with shading and highlights The pastel color does give him a friendly knight feel, but it feels like all the shading are just mid-tone range. Shadows are rarely just two colors darker, they're much...
