Hmm, there are plenty of ways to bring the two of them closer together. For example, you mentioned both Kyoko and Ao like to drink, so perhaps something happens to Kyoko whilst she has been drinking (for example, being man handled and forced away from the bar by a group of men) and Ao comes and save...
