A school project? Will you post it here? I'm curious...

I'm a 21 years old male dumbfuck. Not so recently I decided I should create a game just to have a purpose. Recently I actually started trying to do things that should get me there sometime hopefully within a decade or so. That is, I started trying to learn python and trying to learn to draw. I'll be lurking the IRC channel mostly, I guess, until I practice my skills enough to start using ren'py and not getting too frustrated in doing so.

Hi, my name is Koveras, I'm a software developer in training, currently studying IT in Germany. I'm presently working on a conspiracy theory-themed VN powered by Ren'Py, so I decided to join the forum in case I need some technical support. :)

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention: whoever wrote the Ren'Py Web Tutorial on the wiki is a goddamn genius. If even a half of the software documentation out there were written so brilliantly, we would be living in a beautiful and friendly world today.

Welcome, newbies :D

Koveras: What a paradoxical sig given your project
I think PyTom was behind the tutorial, as he is behind probably 99% of Ren'Py devstuff (the other 1% being frameworks from some other people)

Actually, I wrote the quickstart. The tutorial was by a friend of mine.

It's all part of Their plan. But I can't talk much about it, They are monitoring me... ;)

Well, if your friend ever comes to Germany, tell him to contact me, I know a couple of enterprises here who'd kill to have him in their documentation team. ^^

The quickstart was very good, btw. I loved (to copy-paste) the code examples, it's just that such kind of manual is usually too quick and superficial for me. I like it a bit more detailed. But it's, nevertheless, a good idea to have a short and a long tutorial in addition to complete reference IMO.

Ramidel: I am here. All may now bow down and stare in wonder.

Ouch. Arrogance is harder to pull off properly when online.

Anyway. I have arrived, or I will assuming my email ever gets the verification message, which isn't guaranteed (note to self: get better email provider). I arrived by a rather circuitous route (basically, I was chasing across TsundereLightning's shameless promotion of Bliss Stage all across TVTropes, and that led me to Elven Relations, which in turn to the Ren'ai Archive...).

I must say I'm impressed by the quality of the visual novels I've seen so far. I'm most drawn to intricate and complex storylines with interesting and meaningful choices; romance is more interesting than H to me (though that doesn't mean I'm completely immune to eye candy), kinetic novels don't drive me like the better VNs, and I love RPG elements -if- they're used to support the story rather than separate from it. (Final Fantasy games? Fun battles, awesome storytelling, but the two aren't hooked together.) Elven Relations remains my gold standard for VNs, but some of the projects are getting my brain fired...

Signing the guestbook just because.
I saw this place when looking for more visual novels after playing Fate/Stay Night.
I read some of the posts here when bored and thought of joining.

A friend referred me here after she made a game with the game-maker engine. I'm impressed so far. She did a great job.
