Knifepoint Horror Segment - VA update (Jun 1)

#1 Post by Badriel »

I present you Knifepoint Horror - an adaptation of Soren Narnia's Novel in a form of a Visual Novel.
Lastrail Productions daringly breaks the conventions and boldly enters the most overlooked VN genre - Horror. Let the darkness envelop you as you sink into the terror.
Experience the new kind of horror in a unique narrative; witness dozens of unique background illustrations, intensifying the ominous atmosphere; be shrouded by the blood chilling music and immerse yourself in the eerie, breathtaking story.

What began as a fairly boring excursion soon becomes a spiraling descent into madness.

I am super interested to play this, but I have a question. Is there a SURPRISE scene anywhere? I don't wanna play the game at night, then suddenly there's Jeff the Killer's face or anything.

A surprise scene? Well, I can't really tell. However I strongly advise to play it at night, in a cozy, dark room.

You did a great job with this. The visuals and sounds created the ideal atmosphere and turned each story into an experience. A CreepyPasta brought to life.

Segment 1 was especially good. It's a stellar example of a VN done right.

Yikes, I was scared already by the poster, lol.
I'm scared of horror stories/games or anything of that sort, after I played "The Dreaming" at night.
I got so brutally scared xD

Heh, I will try this out though!
I'll probably play the VN up with a friend around me, or in the morning LOL

I just started reading this, and I'm already in love with it. I love the atmosphere created with the art and music.
Especially during the part in William's Grandfather's basement when the music stopped. The lack of music made everything so tense! And the yelling of "Liar!" made me jump.
 I wish I could read more novels this way.

Well, that certainly was interesting--a well done NVL. Each short story is never solved but that's what lets it remain creepy. =D

I get the idea of people submitting awesome stories to a periodical or something. I am particularly reminded of "GUTS" by Chuck Palahniuk (less horror, more grotesque).

I'm looking forward to Segment 3.

It’s May 1st, and just a month after the release of the Segment I & II, Knifepoint Horror Segment III is here!
Our team worked very hard to deliver this piece on time in the highest quality possible. With this release we have improved the quality of all of the game’s aspects: art, music and the script.
We have also changed the resolution and started experimenting with animation.
We hope this Segment will satisfy your hunger. Bon Apetit!

I've just finished the first segment...well said, I'm impressed with the rich vocabulary and detailed expressions involved. But it remained me shrouded with more questions about the clear explanation of the story. It kept me intrigued to read the real thing, i never know of this Soren Narnia's writings

As in:
1) What exactly is this man called "Forsch Cording"? (his ability to sense and tracking "something", his knowledge, and another mystery is when it revealed that he had taped eyed and blood splattered around part of his face, why is that?)
2) What kind of influence that Gretchen Plauser brought? is that logical influence or it is associated to some kind of cult activity?
3) What is that creature on the plane crash accident?
4) The connection between MC's grandfather to all those mess
5) What historical background that make this Robin Song seemingly haunted even though it was vaguely mentioned as Gretchen's influence but what is that exactly?
6) If Gretchen is the "red thread" of it all, what made her be?
7) The cause of indescribable disease those kids suffered, if it was connected with Gretchen's presence, what was the reason and what was the connection?
Actually there are many more but these are what i could think of right now.

For a person who haven't read the real story at all this remained as vague as a five year old kid tried to do Sherlock Holmes (ok, that was quite emphasizing). But it would've been worse if it was done by someone like me. :P

But overall, the ambience, the background, pictures, music involved was incredibly fitting, not to mention the sound effects. That's another plus point. The sinister ambience can be felt along the gameplay. Very good job Badriel. Salute! Really looking forward for your next game. And I will read the second and third segment after this. I would be delightful if you do mind to answer my confusions and questions though. Thank you!

(edit) Sorry to edit this so often, I just want to say that I found the very limited 6 save slots really bothered me. We need not so much for a KN but i love to replay and see what i miss in a detailed story and limited save slots was what hindered me to do so.

(edit) I've just finished all of the three...i must admit that you made me addicted to these...I wait for the next segment..and the third segment had a lot of improvement...I always love your writing style...i found some typo but i loved the third one the most...not as vague as the first one..it made me wished it was longer...Good job! Please release more of these...:D:D

Thanks for all the feedback! I'm sure you'll like Segment IV.

Well, I never expected anyone to use more than 6 slots in a kinetic novel, haha.

As for the questions, I'll try to answer them, but without revealing spoilers for the next segments.
1. I won't answer directly, but if you reread it, you'll notice there was another character with tape over their eyes. I'll let you connect the loose ends
2. The answer to that question will be clear if you see the hidden ending.
3. We'll discover that... Soon enough
4. Secret
5. Gretchen's influence over the town is said to be the cause of every supernatural occurrence there.
6. Secrets again
7. 7) That's a clue to what happened to Gretchen Plauser and what made her become what she is. Take a moment to consider everything that happened that day in Robin Song, they are all connected to Gretchen.
And a small sample of what we'll witness in S4

Wow such a great work you've done! I mean, how could you scare me a lot with those sound effects?? Plus, the voice acting is well recorded.
And a great story indeed.. I am impressed!

Can't wait for the next segments!!! (Voice acting would be very amazing).
