How do you create those sprite images? Using some sort of simple 3D program like MMD?

They're using ComiPo! Just search for it on Google, it's pretty cool.
Beginning pre-production work on a project in Renpy. After being away for 5 years, it's time to get back in the game 8)

Well that's interesting, thanks for the pointer!

Edit: Software looks promising indeed. I don't know if this is a good way to create sprites, but we shall see!.

If I had the money, I'd definitely buy it. You can make some good characters with it, then make entire scenes and CG with it. It's something good for those who may lack artist skills, like myself. :D
