I don't know if anyone's unlocked this yet, but if you complete "The Loop" on the computer, you unlock a playable text-adventure version of The Loop in your bonus content!

I cannot promise you the puzzles there are any less mind-boggling, but they do edge more towards The Loop's style of puzzling.

Yep, did that already! :D Although, is the text game under the extras supposed to be beatable, or is it another "loop"? I can only go in circles, go crazy, and look at stuff.

You can also dial the phone number for the pizza delivery service from The Loop, too.

On the topic of this game, however...I've made it past the labyrinth, but I'm a bit stuck with the map/chess puzzle. I think I've more or less deciphered large chunks of the poem, but I'm tripping up over "In their midst / a sign in ink". I'm not sure which piece that one's referring to.

Hint for the chess puzzle:
It's a couple of pieces... the "three black hearts" are three of the black pieces, so "in their midst" is a space in the middle of them.

I created an account just to say that this game is doing its job and driving me nuts. Been at it for hours over the past couple days and am stuck at the paintings. I get how to change the pictures - figured all that out. Just don't understand which pictures to use when, and the story ain't helping much.

It doesn't help that I absolutely suck at puzzles, either...-sighs-

Here's what to do with the paintings:
You need the paintings to match the book you've been reading in your bedroom.
But, this is mostly a puzzle game... so hopefully you enjoy puzzles. :-)

Unfortunately that's the part I'm not grasping. I'm probably interpreting the story wrong when it comes to the pictures. My logic is as follows:
Picture of the man: Jack Thornwood, a Sheriff. Sounds English. If I'm right, I just have to figure out how to make the painting English (I think I've gotten all the other European countries except England, hah)
Lady: Naked due to the description in the book.
Tree: Not entirely sure. I was thinking that hellish looking picture, since it mentions burning and stuff.
Water: This is the one that stumps me. It mentions sand and oncoming darkness so I was thinking maybe the lighthouse in the dark...but my logic is probably wrong.
I know it's a puzzle game, and I do enjoy puzzles...I'm just really, terribly awful at them. I know I picked a bad game to play, but I do enjoy a challenge :P

About the second floor painting...
maybe it refers to the desert? I'm not entirely sure. I do know that you get the desert painting by washing your hands to the point of insanity (at least twelve times, until the protag starts laughing).
And from doing a quick Wikipedia search (spoiler for kitchen painting):
I've managed to find Earl Grey tea, English Breakfast tea, and Yorkshire tea as possible English candidates. Maybe also beer, but I'm not sure on that one. I'll have to go experiment.
But there's one part of the chess puzzle I'm still stumped on:
The knights' position. It says "between two knights / a pact shall rise". Where between? The two are spaced too far apart and not quite in the same range.

As long as you *like* puzzles, I'm happy to help you out. :-D

It will probably help to know a bit more exactly what the pictures represent. If you know what makes the pictures change, try writing down all the things it could be to abstract out what the picture represents.

If they are still not clear (and some weren't for me, either, so don't feel bad!), I've put them below:

tree -
season of the year
woman -
time of day - I had to cheat to figure out this one; I think it's pretty obscure.
man in kitchen -
country
water -
type of water - ocean, lake, or waterfall

For England,
you want English Breakfast tea with milk. I was confused because the flag is not the British flag, but the English flag.
. If you think it might be the USA, try
whiskey
.

About the upstairs painting,
I never saw the desert one! That's kind of funny....
For the knights,
I think there is one square exactly in the middle of the two knights that it is referring to.

Finally able to download this. I'll try what I can but it looks harder than The Loop before. I don't even have a clue on my first 20-minutes playthrough. Definitely worth to try again once I have quite free time.
Oh, and the .rpy file is still accessible like your previous game...think the quite advanced player can get a hint from this?

I've more or less figured out how to change the second floor painting, the woman's painting, and the guy's painting, but I'm still a bit stumped on changing the tree in the living room (or if I need to at all--I think I do, but I'm not sure).

To change the tree in the living room,
try playing some music on your MP3 player in the game
.

How the heck does the woman's painting change? I got it to some fancy lady once, but aside from that...
I've only been able to change it from nude or the underclothes with the TV.
I dunno. This section has made me want to flip tables more than once. The Madness? I think I'm getting there by not getting anywhere at all.

The woman's painting was the hardest to figure out. I couldn't figure it out, either. :-/
How to change it:
It changes based on the time. If you end the loop earlier (by dying from a bomb or clicking on the barometer a lot or something), you will get the nude woman (night). If you end the loop after a medium amount of time, you will get the woman in the corset (morning). If you let the loop go until almost 5am, you will get the woman with the parasol (afternoon).
Also, a tip for the entire game - generally it's best not to load your game if something goes wrong. You can't ever mess something up completely; you can always try the puzzles again, though sometimes the clues will reset to something slightly different. Even if things look grim, keep pushing on through... :-D

Don't you know that the definition of insanity is "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"?

EDIT:

About the beverages...
I think I'm doing something wrong with the Breakfast Tea. I'm not adding milk. Does it matter if I add sugar, honey, or not?
