Hello! This Girl x Boy otome game is entitled "Orange Couch" and was made using Ren'py.

It's my first finished project, so please be nice to it! But that doesn't mean I'm not open to criticism. Feedback would be very much appreciated.

[Edit: Ooops, forgot the plot]
Plot: Yuumi and Souta have been friends for so many years now, and neither of them are planning to change that; or at the least, don't have the courage to do so. One day, a sweet little incident happens, and this stirs up a bit of awkwardness between the two; and supposedly "uninvited" feelings begin to show up. Read as Souta or as Yuumi, and find out what happens next; and just who is this new red-haired guy in class?

*The game is viewed from two perspectives. Some things are revealed in the boy's perspective, and some are in the girl's. So I suggest to read both...
*2-3 Hours of Gameplay
*For the boy's perspective, there are a total of 3 Endings (End, Bad End, Best End)
*For the girl's perspective, there are 4 (2 Endings, 2 Best Endings)
*This game has a total of 14 CGs.
*For a shorter game play, pick the 'I'm a Boy'... But honestly, it's not as good as the 'I'm a Girl'...
*Please forgive my own understanding of the human anatomy.
*The art and story is way better in the 'I'm a Girl' route...probably because I made the 'I'm a Boy' route earlier, so I improved here and there... But also because I'm a girl.//slapped(Kinda biased, huh? But I didn't mean to...50% of the story in this game was added in the last minute.)

Oh, I remember seeing this on DA a while back! Glad to see you've gotten around to posting it here!

Just finished the entire game and man that game was awesome. It was so adorable and romantic. First I played Souta's perspective. I thought it was really to see how he felt. I really liked Yuumi's though because she was a really funny and tomboyish character. I liked Jun but Shouta had to be my favorite. Seeing him at his ending like that made me tear up a bit. . Also, I kind of feel like his ending was the true ending for Yuumi. I have nothing against Jun but I prefer he with Shouta.

Anyway, good job on your first game. Really nice graphics and beatutiful music. Looking forward to your next one

I think it was quite nice. (Honestly, I'm not too good at giving critique. So yeah.)


Just one thing though, why did you name it "Orange Couch"? (Or was it, perhaps, actually explained but I just missed it? .__.)

Ok, feedback:

Your 'two perspectives' approach is interesting. I would suggest to replace I'm a boy/I'm a girl at the beginning of the story with Boy's perspective/Girl's perspective, together with a hint that the whole story will change and not only the main character. Without your remarks above I wouldn't have choosen the girl's path after playing the boy's path.

The 'two perspectives' approach would be an interesting base for (bigger?) future projects with lot's of misunderstandings, etc.

With the rest I have to agree with Sleipnir56: Good job for a first release.

This is so impressive for your first game!!
I noticed you used at least some of your music (if not all) was from Kevin Macleod and I couldn't decide how I felt about that. I mean I love his music but so many people use it... I guess it was a good choice
Also I noticed in the "I'm a boy" path, Yuumi's legs didn't always reach the bottom of the screen haha ;DDD
otherwise I liked it (both boy/girl perspectives, especially how some of the dialogue was in both!) and I was a little biased towards Souta b/c I played the boy path first
The art and the characters were all so cute XD thank you for sharing!
